In recent years,with the development of international Chinese language education,Chinese language teaching in remote areas of Thailand has faced some challenges.Based on the author’s practice of teaching Chinese at Bannongtakew School in Suphan Province,Thailand,this thesis attempts to apply the chunk teaching method to solve the problems of Chinese teaching in less developed areas of Thailand.Previously,many scholars of educational circles have found that chunk teaching can solve the problem of extracting Chinese vocabulary and sentence structure when Chinese learners communicate,and help Chinese learners improve the fluency,coherence and appropriateness of Chinese expressions.In this paper,aiming at Bannongtakew school in Thailand and the design of the teaching content,the chunk teaching method is applied to the teaching design of specific topics.Through the video recording of the classroom during the internship,students’ performance in Chinese classes are observed.In the process of implementing the chunk teaching,the students’ phonetic imitation,meaning comprehension and classroom communication using the chunks are observed at the elementary level at Bannongtakew School,and analyzed and summarized,making suggestions for the application of the chunk teaching method.Specifically,on the basis of previous academic research,the definition and classification of Chinese chunks are collated and summarized.Firstly,the feasibility and necessity of applying the chunk teaching method to the teaching of elementary Chinese at Bannongtakew School in Suphan Province is explained,taking into account the problems of teaching integrated Chinese classes at Bannongtakew School in Suphan Province and the characteristics of the chunk teaching method.Secondly,the basic principles of chunk teaching and the specific teaching methods of different chunks are summarized and applied to the theoretical basis of Chinese language in Bannongtakew School.Thirdly,an empirical analysis is made of the teaching of Chinese as a second language at Bannongtakew School in Suphan Province,Thailand,using the textbook "Happy Chinese"(Volume 1)and the choice of chunks.Finally,the application of the chunk teaching method to the elementary integrated Chinese language class at Bannongtakew School in Suphan Province,Thailand,is combined with specific Chinese teaching practices to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the chunk teaching,so as to propose corresponding suggestions for the academic community.
