Study On The Book Of Talented Women

The Book of Female Talents is a novel about twelve female talents and their deeds,written by Yanshui Sanren in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties.At present,people have made some achievements in the study of the novels of talented women,but the study of "The Book of Female Talent" is not deep enough and specific enough,leaving more room for us to study.This article mainly focuses on the work "The Book of Female Talents" by Smoky Water Scatterer as the main object of study,which consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the introductory part,which mainly elaborates the current situation of the study,the research problems and difficulties of the dissertation,as well as the research methods and research ideas,aiming to elaborate the scientific significance and operability of this choice;the second chapter,which elaborates the background of the times of The Book of Female Talents and the motives of Yanshui Sanren’s creation,is divided into two parts: the first part is the vigorous development of the commodity economy,the turbulent society of the late Ming and early Qing dynasties,and the ideological liberation with Confucianism as the core In the second part,we analyze the motives of Yanshui Sanren from three perspectives: the attitude of Yanshui Sanren toward the Ming Dynasty,the plot of the imperial examination and the metaphor of the relationship between men and women.In the third chapter,the selection criteria of women in Yanshui Sanren and the ideological breakthrough of The Book of Female Talents are elaborated.The first part explains the criteria for selecting women in The Book of Female Talents from the perspectives of factuality,talent and love.The second part summarizes the ideological breakthroughs of The Book of Female Talents,namely,the inheritance and promotion of "virtue and talent",the new ending beyond the traditional successful scholar,the important part of the story of married life,and the female-centered narrative style.Chapter 4 introduces the narrative art of "The Book of Female Talents" from four perspectives: the unconventional plot,the female character type,the purely female narrative perspective,and the language of "elegance in writing".Chapter 5 illustrates the different degrees of hardships that women were trapped in due to the oppression of the economic system,marriage system and traditional morality in feudal society.In response to these dilemmas,Xu Zhen proposes her own solutions,about three of which are: first,to strive for the right to choose her own spouse,or to elope and remarry if not permitted;second,to restrain her emotions by practicing Buddhism,or even to become a monk or hide in a temple to get rid of the interference of worldly affairs;and third,to get rid of the bondage completely by committing suicide directly or seeking death indirectly.The Book of Female Talents had a great influence on later literature,especially the Dream of the Red Chamber.But it was difficult for women to achieve true liberation without destroying the feudal social system and production methods.
