Dunhuang Grottoes Western Pure Land murals have always attracted the attention of many scholars because of their rich image content.In the murals of the Western Pure Land,scholars with different professional backgrounds such as music history and architectural history are attracted by the musical instrument of "non drum self singing","eight merit water of" harmonizing cold and warm "and the palace view of" natural transformation ".At present,there are only a few isolated examples of wooden buildings before the Tang Dynasty in China.A large part of the information about the overall layout and architectural combination of ancient Chinese buildings needs to be supplemented by image materials.There are a large number of Western Pure Land murals in Dunhuang Grottoes.Architectural images,which occupy a large area of mural composition,provide us with rich and vivid image materials for our study of ancient Chinese architecture.Liang Sicheng,Xiao Mo,Fu Xinian,sun Ruyi and sun Yihua have all studied the architectural combinations in the murals and the single buildings such as pavilions,platforms,towers and pavilions,based on the architectural images in the murals of the Western Pure Land in Dunhuang Grottoes.It should be pointed out that the research of the above predecessors mostly names and classifies buildings from the perspective of architecture and the evolution law of buildings,etc.It should be noted that Western Pure Land murals are the product of Buddhist thought and belief system.The architectural layout and combination in murals are more or less influenced by Buddhist belief and designer thought.Based on the research of the above sages,this paper will discuss from the following two parts:In the first part,the picture composition and architectural layout of Western Pure Land murals are concerned.Taking the whole Western Pure Land mural as the unit,the author will analyze the architectural images.The importance of architectural images in the murals of the Western Pure Land is emphasized.The design idea of the mural designer at that time will be tried to restore.The second part,mainly classifies the architectural images in the murals of the Western pure land according to the chronological order.From different aspects such as building combination,single building and building components,this paper makes a special study on the images of buildings,flat pavilions,buildings,high platforms and sun blocking plates in the murals of the Western Pure Land,so as to add new content to the history of Chinese architecture. |
