The Kumutula Grottoes are the remains of important Buddhist art in Xinjiang.Among them, the Pure Land Transformation murals in Cave 14 are very rare among the cave murals in Xinjiang. The Mural of the Pure Land Transformation is a product of the localization of Buddhist art.It first appeared in Cave 127 of the Maiji Mountain Grottoes in Tianshui,Gansu, and later appeared in the Kumtula Grottoes. After Buddhism was referraled to China,it begans the plan of localization, but this localization also benefited from the intra-regional cultural commutes within Xinjiang and Central Plains Mainland. The research of the Pure Land Change murals in Cave 14 of Kumutula shows that although Buddhism first entered Xinjiang, the pure land change murals were the result of the return of Buddhism to Xinjiang from the Central Plains along with the process of localization of Buddhism. The thesis expounded my views on the theme and style of the Pure Land Transformation of the Kumutula Grottoes and its interaction with the Dunhuang Grottoes. As an important post on the Tianshan Corridor along the Silk Road,Kumtula’s Han wind phenomenon in its grottoes can undoubtedly be seen as evidence of cultural exchanges between different ethnic groups in our country, and its research is helpful for the current cultural construction and ethnic unity.Mission of the times.
