The Study On Indirect Negative Sentences In Modern Chinese

An indirect negative sentence refers to a sentence in which there is no formal negation mark in the core of the predicate,but the entire sentence is reversed in expression,indicating a negative meaning.This paper takes indirect negative sentences as the research object,insists on the combination of description and interpretation,and solves the problem of asymmetric matching between form and meaning through the relevant knowledge of pragmatics and syntax,which has certain theoretical and practical value.The full text is divided into six chapters.Chapter one :introduction.It mainly explains the meaning of the title and connotation of the terms of this paper;introduces the reasons,objects and significance of this research;reviews the relevant researches;introduces the research methods and corpus sources of this paper.Chapter two: negative categories and pragmatic markers.This chapter starts with the negative category,explaining that the negative category of language is the conceptualization of the natural category.Then,through category comparison,it is shown that the negative category is marked in form and meaning.Finally,the pragmatic markers of indirect negative sentences are studied according to the marker characteristics.This paper argues that language and context adapt to each other and form the default mode of communication.In the process of language use,the phenomenon of meaning expansion occurs in the non-default mode.Indirect negative sentences are linguistic phenomena that appear in non-default modes,and activate negative understanding through pragmatic markers and negative intentions.Chapter three: the form,meaning and function of indirect negative sentences.This chapter expounds the characteristics of indirect negative sentences in terms of form,meaning and function.The form of indirect negative sentence has negative pragmatic markers,which can be equivalent to the alternative negative form.The meaning of indirect negative sentences is highly subjective,non-compositional,uncertain and context-dependent.The indirect negative sentence can realize subjective negation and express the subjectivity of the speaker.Chapter four: types of indirect negative sentences.This chapter classifies indirect negative sentences according to the degree of structure,the degree of context dependence and the salience of consciousness,and describes different types of language expressions and characteristics.Context-based indirect negative sentences can be divided into question-and-answer and ironic categories;context-structural-based indirect negative sentences can be divided into interrogative-negative and hypothetical conditions;structural-based indirect negative sentences are mainly “ X ge N "kind.The degree of structure of these three types is from shallow to deep,and the degree of context dependence and the salience of consciousness are from deep to shallow,reflecting that indirect negative sentences are not purely consistent,and there are various internal differences.Chapter five: the formation reasons of indirect negative sentences.This paper believes that subjective expression,interactive communication are the main reasons for the formation of indirect negative sentences.The subjective expression provides the speaker’s behavioral motivation for the indirect negative sentence;the interactive communication provides the cooperative support of the conversation participants for the expression and understanding of the indirect negative sentence.Chapter six: conclusion.This chapter summarizes the research of the full text,states the shortcomings of this research and introduces the prospect of future research.
