Revision And Preliminary Application Of The Light Triad Scale

Objective:Taking adolescents as the research object,this paper revised the Chinese version of the light triad scale(LTS)and tested its reliability and validity,and explored the relationship between the light triad and the sense of meaning in life(MIL).Methods:Study 1:first,after obtaining the authorization of the original scale author,the original items of the Chinese version of the light triad scale were obtained through back translation,and the scale structure was analyzed by exploratory factor analysis in386 adolescent samples;Secondly,confirmatory factor analysis was used to test the structural validity of the revised light triad scale in 514 adolescent samples.At the same time,Agreeableness Scale,Dirty Dozen,Virtuous Personality Scale and Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire were used to test the aggregate validity and discriminant validity of the Chinese version of the light triad scale.Finally,the test-retest reliability of Chinese version of the light triad scale was tested in 40 pairs of adolescent retest samples at an interval of 4 weeks.Study 2:the revised light triad scale was used to explore the relationship between light triad and the four components of meaning in life,relatedness needs satisfaction,global meaning of life in a sample of 396 adolescents.Study 3:a cross lag study of light triad and global meaning in life was conducted in 133 adolescent samples,and the vertical mediating role of internal value was tested.This study uses SPSS 24 0 and M-plus 8.0 analyze and process the data.Results:(1)the Chinese version of light triad scale included 11 items in twodimensions:Kantian and humanitarianism;The internal consistency coefficient of the total scale was 0.89,and the test-retest reliability was 0.81 at an interval of 4 weeks.The internal consistency coefficients of the two subscales(Kant and humanitarianism)were 0.72 and 0.89,respectively,and the test-retest reliability was 0.68 and 0.83;The two-factor model fitted well(X~2/df=3.14,CFI=0.933,TLI=0.915,RMSEA=0.064,SRMR=0.038);The scale has good criterion related validity.(2)Taking light triad as the independent variable,global meaning in life as the dependent variable,and internal value and external value as the intermediary variables,a parallel intermediary model was established.The results showed that the parallel intermediary effect was significant,and the intermediary effect of internal value was significantly greater than that of external value(95%CI:[0.03,0.26]).(3)The chain mediation model was established with light triad as the independent variable,global meaning in life as the dependent variable,relatedness needs satisfaction and internal value as the intermediary variables.The results showed that the chain mediation effect was significant(95%CI:[0.04,0.10]).(4)A longitudinal study of the relationship between light triad and global meaning in life shows that the light triad of time 1 cannot significantly predict the global meaning in life after half a year(time 2),and vice versa.However,the light triad of time 1 can significantly predict the sense of global meaning in life after half a year(time 2)through the vertical intermediary effect of the internal value of time 1.Conclusion:firstly,the Chinese version of the light triad scale has good reliabilityand validity in Chinese teenagers,and can be used as a measurement tool for Chinese teenagers’light personality traits.Secondly,light triad can affect teenagers’global meaning in life through the parallel intermediary of internal value and external value.Thirdly,light triad can affect teenagers’global meaning in life through the simple intermediary of relatedness needs satisfaction and internal value,as well as through the chain intermediary of the two.Finally,teenagers with high light triad cannot experience a stable sense of global meaning in life in their daily life,but when they experience a high level of internal value due to their light personality at the same time,they can experience a stable sense of global meaning in life for a long time.
