As an important carrier for Chinese learners to understand China,teaching Chinese as foreign language(TCFL)textbooks play an important role in the international promotion of China’s image.In this thesis,three elementary Chinese comprehensive course textbooks of Japan co-authored by Chinese and Japanese scholars are selected,which are Twelve Scenes of Cultural Communication Between China and Japan,The Cross Points of Cultural Communication Between China and Japan and Cultural Communication Plaza Between China and Japan,to analyze what kind of China’s image is presented,how it is presented,and put forward suggestions for integrating China’s image into TCFL textbooks in the subsequent Sino-foreign cooperation.Chapter one is an introduction,which includes the research background,research significance,literature review,theoretical basis,research methods and ideas.Chapter two is the research objects and analysis content construction.The research objects are based on the concept of cross-cultural communication,which are widely used by a large audience,and have a certain influence in Japan.The analysis content scope is drawn based on six dimensions:nationality,society,culture,education,geography and economy.Chapter three is the investigation of China’s image in the elementary Chinese comprehensive course textbooks of Japan.Based on “Attitude System” and “Engagement System” in “Evaluation Theory” and Boson NLP system of big data semantic analysis,this chapter analyzes the display form,attitude tendency and engagement strategy of China’s image in six dimensions respectively.As a result,in the aspect of display form,an image of China close to people’s life is displayed through a large number of cartoon pictures,dialogues and discourses.In the aspect of attitude tendency,the positive attitudes are more than the negative ones.As for engagement strategy,practical methods are mainly adopted such as“Acknowledge”,“Endorse”,“Pronounce”,“Counter”,“Deny” and “Concur” while the auxiliary ones are also used such as “Entertain” and “ Distance”.Chapter four is interviews with co-authors of the elementary Chinese comprehensive course textbooks of Japan.Through interviews,it can be included that Chinese and Japanese scholars have achieved a clear division of work and a distinctive linkage between main and auxiliary tasks in co-editing textbooks.In the selection principle of China’s image,they adhere to three principles:peculiarity,accessibility and comparability.In terms of relevant arrangement strategies,they not only pay attention to the diversification of forms and attitude tendency,but also guide learners how to form their own opinions of China’s image.In addition,Japanese scholar’s unique views on some cultural points provide us with different thinking mode.Chapter five is the reference of China’s image promotion in the compilation of Chinese textbooks of Japan.This chapter put forward relevant suggestions on integrating China’s image in the compilation of TCFL textbooks from four aspects:Sino-Japanese co-editing mode,material selection,image display and engagement strategy.Chapter six is a summary of the research conclusions,innovations,shortcomings and outlook of this thesis.
