After the Belt and Road Cooperation Initiative was put forward,China and Thailand have stepped into a new stage of development for their relationship.Due to the closer economic cooperation,more high-level and compound language talents are needed.Therefore,Chinese courses are widely offered in both basic and higher education stage in Thailand and higher requirements for Chinese teachers and learners are also put forward,which cause that the research on ‘how to motivate learners to improve their academic performance and interest in learning’ has become the research perspective of experts and scholars in this field.This thesis carries out a research on the Chinese culture course the Book of Songs in Thailand through teaching experiments on the basis of ARCS model,which are valuable not only for guiding teaching practice scientifically based on the model,but also for the significance of cultural diffusion.There are six sections in the thesis.The introduction section briefly describes the background and significance of the topic selection,research methods and innovations.The second section is the research and literature review.Firstly,the ARCS model including its four elements are introduced.Secondly,the related researches on the ARCS model from the domestic and foreign perspectives are reviewed.Finally,researches on culture courses and poetry courses in teaching Chinese as a foreign language are introduced.The third and fourth sections are the cores of this thesis,which include the experimental design and implementation of the ARCS model in the Thai culture courses,and the analysis of the experimental data.This thesis takes the Chinese Sinology the Book of Songs and its cultural knowledge as the teaching content of experiments,and takes the Chinese learners in the second grade class A of Loengnoktha School in Thailand as the experimental object.The ARCS model is applied to conduct a one-semester teaching intervention,with two surveys for studying the motivation of learners through interview method and questionnaire survey method,and the results are sorted and compared,which get the experimental result of ‘applying the ARCS model in the teaching will improve the learning motivation,performance,and attitude of learners within one semester’ and demonstrates the feasibility and superiority of ARCS model in the teaching courses in Thailand.The fifth section puts forward relevant suggestions for the Book of Songs cultural courses from the aspects of Chinese teachers,learners and school combining the ARCS model and the problems in the experiments.The sixth section is the conclusion,which is the summary of this thesis. |
