Abstract/Summary:
Tibetan Buddhism,as a prominent and comprehensive Mahayana Buddhism,has grown in the special ecological environment of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,forming a distinct and unique religious and cultural habitat and inheritance system,and exerting great influence in Chinese mainland.Chengdu,as a "transfer station" of Sino-Tibetan cultural exchange,is also the convergence point.As a typical Tibetan Buddhism temple in Chengdu,Shijing Temple,the Simi Fundamental Ashram since 1984,presents some representative characteristics of Tibetan Buddhism inheritance.In view of this,inheritance outside the local area,based on the research status of Tibetan studies and Tibetan Buddhism at home and abroad,the paper focuses on the development of Tibetan Buddhism in Chengdu,and carries out research on the inheritance and adaptation of Tibetan Buddhism in Chengdu.Making Shijing Temple as a case through field investigation and historical data,the paper summarizes general situation of the history in Shijing Temple’s architecture,analyses its contemporary inheritance in temple system,and gives relevant thoughts to Chengdu,the inheritance and adaptation of Tibetan Buddhism in Chengdu,combining with the characteristics and the existing problems in Shijing Temple of Tibetan Buddhism.Then It concludes that the inheritance and development of Tibetan Buddhism in Chengdu should continue to adhere to the Sinicization and strive to build the Chinese national cultural community.Paper main content includes:(1)Tibetan Buddhism development in Chengdu,(2)Shijing Temple architecture history,(3)Shijing Temple sangha organization and inheritance situation of Buddhist practice activities,(4)accumulation from the organization,management,management and the education system in the inheritance of temple system,(5)thinking to inheritance and adaptation of Tibetan buddhism in Chengdu.The following conclusions can be drawn from the study :(1)Shijing temple was effectively adjusted in the process of changing from simple and explicit Buddhism to explicit and dense integration,which is a unique type of Tibetan Buddhism inherited outside the local area;(2)Accordingly,the Tibetan Buddhism activities in Shijing Temple are basically based on the daily Chinese Buddhism activities,but in terms of specific content and some rituals,the content and color of The Gelug School of Tibetan Buddhism are added.(3)The monastic system of Shijing Temple has formed a distinctive style of Sino-Tibetan integration in the history of the temple,and its recitations reflect the systematic existence of Tibetan Buddhism in a relatively complete way,which supports the essence of Tibetan Buddhism in the temple.(4)The contemporary inheritance of Tibetan Buddhism in Chengdu conforms to and adapts to the development status of Chengdu,and the Sino-Tibetan Buddhism shows a balanced and mixed development state in The Buddhist culture of Chengdu,which is conducive to Sino-Tibetan cultural exchanges and the cultural construction of the Chinese nation community in the new era.But at the same time,there are some problems and shortcomings such as incomplete inheritance of dharma vein and single inheritance field structure,which need to be improved carefully.
