In recent years,Chinese online novels have become more and more popular with Vietnamese college students.However,there are few related studies.First,there are not many studies on the dissemination of Chinese online novels in Vietnam.Second,the literature on the reading motivation and reading behavior of the cross-cultural communication of Chinese online novels is rare at home and abroad.In order to dig deeper into Vietnamese college students’ reading motivation,reading behavior,and the relationship between the two,and to promote the cross-cultural spread of Chinese culture,it is necessary to conduct in-depth research on Vietnamese college students’ motivation,behavior and the relationship between the two when reading Chinese online novel.This research uses literature method,interview method,questionnaire survey method,and statistical analysis method to conduct research.First,combing the related literature on reading motivation and reading behavior,starting from a cross-cultural perspective,combined with on-site interviews,put forward a preliminary measurement table to measure the reading motivation and reading behavior of Vietnamese college students in Chinese online novels,as well as research hypotheses.The preliminary reading motivation scale is composed of 29 items in six dimensions:emotional expression,reading interest,social interaction,entertainment and leisure,the importance of reading,and cultural identity;the preliminary reading behavior scale consists of reading behavior and social behavior 2 There are 7 items in each dimension;the research hypotheses are(1)There are differences in gender,professional category,grade,and place of origin in the reading of Chinese online novels by Vietnamese college students.(2)There is a significant correlation between the reading motivation and reading behavior of Vietnamese college students in reading Chinese online novels.(3)The reading motivation of Vietnamese college students in reading Chinese online novels can predict reading behavior.Then,by issuing the initial measurement form,withdrawing the results,after project analysis,dimensional analysis,factor extraction and project screening,irrelevant items are eliminated,factors are determined,and a formal questionnaire is formed.A formal questionnaire was issued for the first time and the results were retrieved.After reliability and test-retest reliability tests,and confirmatory factor analysis,the validity of the questionnaire was confirmed.Finally,the formal questionnaire was issued again,the results were retrieved,and the spss22.0 software was used for statistical analysis of data,and the conclusions were drawn:(1)There is no significant difference in reading motivation in gender,grade,and place of origin,only significant differences in professional categories.(2)The social interaction,emotional expression,entertainment and leisure,cultural identity,importance of reading,reading interest,reading motivation and reading behavior of Vietnamese college students are significantly positively correlated with reading behavior,social behavior,and total score of reading behavior relationship.(3)The main reading motives of Vietnamese college students are "reading interest","cultural identity" and "emotional expression"."Cultural identity" is an important factor in the reading motivation of Vietnamese universities.It shows that Vietnamese university students accept China’s historical and traditional culture and motivate them to read Chinese online novels.
