A Study Of Joseph Conrad’s Heart Of Darkness In The English World In The Digital Age

Heart of Darkness is the most famous representative work of British Polish writer Joseph Conrad.It has a wide influence in the English world and is listed as a classic of Western literature.In the past 100 years,the criticism of Heart of Darkness in western academic circles has been continuous,reflecting the changing process of literary criticism,and many new perspectives and methods have emerged.On the other hand,with the rapid development of modern computer technology,digital media and the Internet,the fourth industrial revolution with technology and digitization as the core is profoundly changing the society.Digitization has become the living state and lifestyle of contemporary people,and also ushered in a new era of humanistic research.Literary research has entered the digital era.In the study of Conrad’s Heart of Darkness in the English world,there are a series of research which are consistent with the background of the digital age.The study of these research will help us to further understand the connotation and value of Conrad’s Heart of Darkness in the perspective of interdisciplinary and cross-media comparison through the new methods and perspectives of the digital age,and enrich the domestic Conrad research.This paper defines the research scope in the "Digital Age" and "English world".From the three aspects of Digital Humanities Research,Digital Media Adaptation Research and Digital Teaching Reform Research,this paper sorts out the research of Conrad’s Heart of Darkness in English world in the digital age,summarizes the research perspectives and methods,and makes comments and comparisons on this basis.The first part is the Introduction,including the research purpose and significance,research status at home and abroad,research methods,research ideas and innovation.Chapter 1 is about Conrad’s Heart of Darkness ’s Digital Humanities Research in the English world,including the discussion of the current situation of Digital Humanities and Digital Humanities Literature Research,the summary of the development stage and research content of the Digital Humanities Research in Heart of Darkness.Chapter 2 is the introduction to the important methods and achievements of Digital Humanities in Heart of Harkness,based on Corpus Stylistics,Network Text Analysis,the combination of Digital Humanities and Cognitive Psychology.Chapter 3 is about the digital media adaptation of Conrad’s Heart of Darkness in the English world,including the discussion of the status and role of media in the digital age and the phenomenon of cross-media adaptation of literary classics,and the adaptation of films,digital games and graphic novel,respectively the research perspectives and contents are sorted out and summarized.Chapter 4 is the research on Teaching Reform in the digital age of Conrad in the English world.The paper briefly discusses the characteristics of literature teaching in the digital age,summarizes the achievements in teaching reform research,and summarizes the three directions of teaching reform in the teaching of Heart of Darkness,namely,the application of digital tools and corpus analysis methods,and the application of "Internet plus Teaching" mode,and the application of digital literature map.Chapter 5 is the research summary of Heart of Darkness in the digital age,including reflection,comparison and enlightenment.The last part is the Conclusion,which summarizes the Digital Humanities methods,cross-media comparisons,and digital teaching reform directions in the digital era.
