Discourse Function Of "Shiwole" In The Context Of New Media

“Shiwole”is an expression that only appears in new media.More importantly,“Shiwole” responses all negative comments,and the speaker/author expresses strong agreement with the negative comments.This paper discusses the pragmatic function and social behavior of “Shiwole” through the classification of the initiating action of the “Shiwole”,trying to make an analysis of pragmatic motivation and influence of“Shiwole” from a multi-disciplinary perspective.The main content of this paper includes the following 5 aspects:Chapter 1 includes the linguistic research background,the research object——“Shiwole”,the methods of corpus’ s collection and current research trends at home and abroad.We have synthesized the definition of new media.Based on this,we chose research methods that are better suited to the object of study.Chapter 2 concludes that "Shiwole" is a kind of stance response behavior.Through comparative analysis with "Shiwo",the conclusion is drawn that "Shiwole" only appears in the context of new media,and has interactive subjectivity.According to Englebretson’s method of defining the concept of stance,the nature of "Shiwole" is a stancetaking responsive action.Chapter 3 is about the pragmatic distribution and function of "Shiwole"."Shiwole" presents different distribution for different negative evaluation behaviors.The analysis found that "Shiwole" mainly responded to three kinds of evaluation behaviors,in descending order: 74% group evaluation,responders mainly realized the purpose of social self-classification and positioning by using the verbal means of "Shiwole";18% "Shiwole" is self-evaluation in which "Shiwole" mainly assumed the pragmatic function of strong proactive self-identification;8% of the respondents’ responses are based on the pragmatic intention of self-ridicule and strong deontic self-identity.Chapter 4 makes clear the generative mechanism and influence of "Shiwole".In the view of linguistic interaction,there is inherent language motivation in the use of "Shiwole",in the view of social psychology and communication,stancetaking responsive action "Shiwole" is the means of language that the weak group members meet the demands of self-esteem,and social creation,eventually achieve positive social identity.Behind the function of self-classification and evaluation,the essence of "Shiwole" is trying to break the original social and cultural imprison and reconstructing the social and cultural values.After the pragmatic function gradually conventionalized,the "Shiwole" shows a new distribution feature which can be used as the title or initiating a turn.Chapter 5 includes the research and argumentation process of the research,and the deficiency in the research and the direction of the next step is also indicated.
