| In the past several years,China has vigorously advocated telling China’s story,conveying China’s voice,showing Chinese characteristics and strengthening culture confidence,attached tremendous significance to the promotion and inheritance of terrific Chinese culture,and strengthened brilliant traditional Chinese culture education with various programmatic documents.The Ministry of Education formulated and promulgated the "General High School English Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition)"(hereinafter referred to as the "New Curriculum Standards"),which "will train socialist builders and successors to adapt to Chinese emotions,international perspectives and Cultural heritage.Communication skill is one of the important goals of current foreign language teaching.Also,these requirements and elaboration undoubtedly put forward higher and more comprehensive requirements for high school students’ ability of Chinese culture in English.However,in the practical teaching,the teacher focuses much more on the English expressions of the target language culture,but less on the application of the English expression of Chinese culture related to the learners’ life experience.As a result,students cannot accurately express Chinese culture in English,and the phenomenon of Chinese Culture Aphasia is obvious.In order to solve above problems,this research takes some English teachers and students in B Middle School of Nanchong City as the research subjects,adopts some research methods such as questionnaires,competence test paper and interviews,considers “Can Four Steps and Seven Rings teaching model improve students’ ability to express Chinese culture in English”? “Why is Four Steps and Seven Rings teaching model effective”? as research questions and bases on Gay’s Culturally Responsive Teaching Theory and Rogers’ s Meaningful Learning Theory.This research adopted action research method to carry out a 4-month educational action research in Class 6,Grade 2,B Middle School of Nanchong City.Researcher uses Four Steps and Seven Rings Chinese culturally responsive teaching model.Meanwhile,the principles of comprehensiveness,appropriateness,motivation,heuristic,communication and relevance should be followed.Action research results show that Four Steps and Seven Rings Chinese culturally responsive teaching model works on improving students’ English expressions of Chinese culture.Besides,The ability to express Chinese culture in English has been improved,which is embodied in the improvement of students’ vocabulary expression and written expression ability. |
