A Study On Readers Of Xinhua Daily(1938-1947)

As the only party newspaper published by the CPC in the KMT-controlled areas during the Anti-Japanese War,the Xinhua Daily has played an important role in shaping the image of the Communist Party,conveying the voice of the Communist Party,striving for the people,and struggling with the KMT.Xinhua Daily has formed a city newspaper running route different from the party newspapers in the base areas.Inspired by the of Western reading history,this paper turns its attention from the group of newspaper publishers and the content of newspaper publication to the group of readers.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,the text is divided into five parts.The first chapter introduces the background and process of the founding of Xinhua Daily.Before the Anti-Japanese War,the CPC lacked reliable propaganda media in the KMT-controlled areas.The high-level of the CPC had known about this issue for a long time and ask to run newspapers when negotiating with the KMT.On January 11,1938,Xinhua Daily was published.The second chapter presents the general characteristics of the number,distribution and identity of Xinhua Daily readers under the influence of the Anti-Japanese War and the KMT-CPC struggle.The third chapter discusses the relationship between readers and newspaper distribution.The fourth chapter investigates the interaction between publishers and readers.The interaction between the two sides has changed the content and layout of Xinhua Daily.The fifth chapter focuses on the way of reading and the "harvest" after reading.Collective reading cannot be carried out,and individual reading is almost the only way.The readers of Xinhua Daily were threatened and attacked by the KMT,but some of them joined the CPC because of reading Xinhua Daily.The publication and reading of Xinhua Daily are involved in the relationship between the KMT and the CPC,and become a part of the political struggle between them.The situations reflected not only reflect the struggle strategies of the KMT and the CPC,but also imply the victory of the CPC.
