The target of this paper is the use of adaptors by Thai middle and advanced Chinese learners.According to the<INTERNATIONAL CURRICULUM FOR CHINESE LANGUAGE EDUCATION>and related Chinese textbooks,35 adaptors are selected as the objects of the research.Based on the explanation of the meaning,classification and function of these adaptors in modern Chinese,this paper analyses learners’ use of adaptors from the aspects of frequency and error by corpus survey method.Firstly,based on the survey of spoken and written language corpora from Thai middle and advanced learners,this paper analyzes the characteristics of 35 adaptors’ using frequency,and concludes that learners use more adverbs,use more adaptors at levels 1 to 3,overuse "hen"(very)in both spoken and written language,that the stylistic features by learners’ using are somewhat different from native speakers and so on.Secondly,this paper analyzes the characteristics of 35 adaptors’ using errors,showing that there are 153 and 161 errors in spoken and written language respectively,which mainly exist in the use of 20 adaptors,such as "hen"(very),"tai"(too)and "zhen"(true).Syntactic,semantic and pragmatic errors are the main types.In the end,based on the results of frequency and error surveys,the teaching suggestions of adaptors include two aspects:teaching contents and teaching methods.In terms of teaching contents,it is suggested to attach importance to the teaching of adaptors of phrases and clauses,combine spoken and written language’ teaching,and put the emphasis on adaptors with high error rate.According to teaching methods’ thunk teaching,context teaching and contrastive teaching are advised.Generally speaking,the innovation of this paper lies in the research on the adaptors in a single country,the new classification of the adaptors and the comprehensive reflection of the use of adaptors by Thai Chinese learners from Thai,from frequency characteristics and using errors,based on the corpus survey.The shortcomings of this paper lie in the incompleteness of the objects and the lack of a more detailed textual division of oral topics or written styles.
