"xialai" is a frequently used and representative word.In the past,research on it mostly focused on the ontology,and relatively few studies on students’ acquisition.This article sorts out the semantic and syntactic analysis of "xialai",and obtains 16 types of sentence patterns as the object of study.Based on the theory of multiple development models,and use questionnaires to collect test papers from 60 English Chinese learners in three levels.The answer papers of 60 English learners of Chinese were analyzed using the Implicational Scaling and SPSS cluster analysis as research tools.We found that there is an implicit relationship between British Chinese learners’acquisition of "xialai" in each acquisition stage.With the help of cluster analysis,the acquisition stage is divided.The overall trend is that students first acquire simple structure and the form of no objects.At each stage,when students perform semantic processing,they will also be restricted by the typical sequence strategy of the target language and native language,phrase shift strategy,and division strategy.This study is compared with related studies on the acquisition order of directional complements.From the perspectives of corpus source,error analysis,acquisition order,etc.,we find that compared with studies on the native language background of Japanese,Korean,and Vietnamese,English It is the most difficult for native learners to acquire the"down" format,which is at the end of the acquisition sequence.Compared with native Russian learners,native English learners acquire semantics prior to syntactic.acquisition.The significance of the essay is to study the acquisition process of a single word"xialai" with the multiple development model as the theoretical basis,and divide the acquisition stages of the three levels of British Chinese learners,A more comprehensive analysis of the acquisition characteristics of directional complement "xialai".From a cognitive perspective,the research on the "xialai" of the directional complement has some reference value formulating the syllabus of Chinese as a foreign language and testing of directional complement.In addition,our research methods are useful for domestic habituation of directional complement.The research also has certain reference significance.
