| Durenjing(《度人经》)is one of the most important classics of Lingbao Taoism.It promotes the practice of chanting to save people and there are many annotations of this work.The Explanations of Yuanshiwuliangdurenshangpinmiaojing(《元始无量度人上品妙经注》),The Interpretations of Yuanshiwuliangdurenshangpinmiaojing(《元始无量度人上品妙经内义》),The Explanations of Taishangdongx uanlingbaowuliangdurenshangpinmiaojing(《太上洞玄灵宝无量度人上品妙经注》)and The Annotations of Yuanshiwuliangdurenshangpinmiaojing(《元始无量度人上品妙经注解》)are representative annotations to Durenjing(《度人经》)in the Song and Yuan Dynasties.The four annotations to Durenjing(《度人经》)are detailed and the texts are colloquial,which have an important value on the study of exegesis.They not only reflect the general visage of annotations of Taoist scriptures during the Song and Yuan dynasties,but also show different exegetical characteristics,reflecting the development of annotations of Taoist scriptures from Song to Yuan.A comparative study of the four annotations to Durenjing(《度人经》)from the perspective of exegesis is advanced in this paper.This paper explains the similarities and differences of the exegetic contents,expressions and terms of the four works,and summarizes the common features and respective characteristics of the four annotations,analyzing the influencing factors.The details are as follows:The first chapter is the introduction.This chapter explains the reasons for selecting the topic,research object,research status and research methods of this study.The second chapter is the comparison of exegetic contents of the four annotations to Durenjing(《度人经》).According to the style and emphasis of the four annotations,this chapter compares the explanation of phonetic notations,explanation of the meaning of words,explanation of the meaning of sentences and grammar explanation of the four annotations.In terms of phonetic notations,this chapter compares the methods,objects and sources of them.In terms of explanation of the meaning of words,this chapter compares the similarities and differences in the selection of annotation points,the types of the meanings of words interpreted,and the accuracy of the interpretation.And this chapter explores the meaning of important words.The third chapter is the comparison of exegetical expressions of the four annotations to Durenjing(《度人经》).The four annotators supplied annotations to Durenjing(《度人经》)by the way of quotation and direct explanation in their own language.This chapter mainly discusses the way of expressing the meaning of words from the two perspectives.And this chapter examines the application and development of exegetical methods.The fourth chapter is the comparison of exegetical terms of the four annotations to Durenjing(《度人经》).This chapter explores the application of the phonetic terminology and terminologies of explaining words,which is divided into fifteen subcategories for comparison.The fifth chapter is the conclusion.The study found that the four annotations to Durenjing(《度人经》)all paid more attention to annotating Taoist words,taking into account the explanation of common words,and tended to interpret contextual meaning of the text.At the same time,the four annotators supplied annotations to Durenjing(《度人经》)by the way of quotation and used a variety of exegetical terms,striving to make their annotations accurate and clear.The four annotations to Durenjing(《度人经》)also have their own characteristics.Qingyuan Zhenren preferred to use his own language to express the meaning of words,attaching importance to explaining the objective meaning of the scriptures.But he was deeply influenced by Buddhism and his annotations sometimes drew wrong conclusions by false analogy.However,Xiao Yingsou and Chen Guanwu often cited predecessors’ annotations and combined Confucianism and Buddhism in their annotations.They explained the scriptures with inner alchemy,which made a strained interpretation.But they also had advantages,such as being good at distinguishing concepts and explaining theories.Xue Jizhao paid more attention to explaining common words,grasping the objective meaning of the scriptures.And Xue Jizhao’s interpretations were concise and clear.The characteristics of the four annotations to Durenjing(《度人经》)is closely related to the factors such as the scholiasts’ concepts,the development of Taoism and the academic atmosphere in the Song and Yuan Dynasties. |
