The Somaesthetics In Foucault’s Aesthetics Of Existence

Foucault’s historical ontology consists of three dimensions: knowledge discourse,power relations and individual self-construction,which reveals the subjectification process of individuals in different period.Focusing on the self-construction of the individual,Foucault put forward the aesthetic ideology of existence,which used the self-construction of ancient Greece and Rome as the ideological resource,while absorbing the aesthetic theories of Kant,Nietzsche and Baudelaire.Scale Plato model and Christian model,the Hellenistic model takes care of the self as the core,and pursues the pursuit of freedom and truth.Through alternate skills of self-construction,the individual constructs itself as the subject of physics and the subject of aesthetics.On the methodology point of view,Foucault adopts the method of genealogy to think.Genealogy takes the history of the body and the body in history as the research object,and the body is regarded as the place and condition of historical ontology.Therefore,existence aesthetic thought has an inherent connection with the body,that is,in the perspective of genealogy,existence aesthetic thought is expressed as the free practice of individual somaesthetics.Foucault’s aesthetic ideology of existence uses body pleasure as the language to awaken the power of the body.As a subjective model based on aesthetics,the aesthetic transformation of the body transcends the traditional metaphysical epistemology and breaks through the realms of knowledge and aesthetics.In the field of Western rationality,one of the defects of Foucault’s existence aesthetics is that it is an aesthetic decisionism.From the perspective of comparison between China and the West,Foucault’s existential aesthetic thought and Confucian ethic aesthetic thought are all focused on the control of self-construction skills by individuals,and they focus on caring of the self,and try to carry out self-construction skills in pursuit of the free aesthetic state of beauty and goodness.However,the selfconcept and the ultimate goal in the aesthetics of Confucian Medical College and Foucault’s existence aesthetics are different.With the help of Confucian ethics and aesthetics’ pursuit of benevolence,it has important enlightening significance for the reconstruction of the personality,character and realm of the contemporary people.
