Background : To investigate the current situation of occupational injury of medical personnel in Lanzhou and analyze its influencing factors,so as to provide scientific data support and basis for the development of occupational protection and the reduction of occupational injuries among medical personnel in Lanzhou.Methods: Using a convenience sampling method,756 medical staff from 11 hospitals in Lanzhou were selected as the study population from March to July 2022,and the existing questionnaire was used as a template to design this occupational injury questionnaire and conduct the research.The questionnaire includes the following four parts:(1)A survey on social demographic characteristics,including gender,age,department,position,title,education,marital status and years of work.(2)A survey of occupation-related influencing factors,including hospital organization and management factors,occupational protection factors,personal factors and occupational exposure factors,etc.(3)Survey on workplace violence in hospitals,including(1)the number,type,time and place of medical violence suffered by medical staff,as well as the perpetrators and reasons for the violence.(2)The way medical staff respond to workplace violence and the psychological impact it has on them,as well as the hospital’s handling of reported incidents of violence.(4)Survey on occupational injuries,including(1)Sub-health self-assessment scale,with 11 symptoms,more than 5 items are considered sub-healthy;(2)Work-related injury scale,with 18 types of injuries;(3)Work-related disease scale,with 24 types of diseases.Results:(1)In this study,742 valid questionnaires were screened,with an effective rate of 98.15%.Of the 742 medical staff surveyed,209(28.17%)were male and 533(71.83%)were female;546(73.58%)were in tertiary hospitals and 196(26.42%)were in secondary hospitals;283(38.14%)were in medical posts,341(45.96%)were in nursing posts,105(14.15%)were in health technology posts The number of administrative posts was 13(1.75%);392(52.83%)were junior titles,193(26.01%)were intermediate titles,137(18.46%)were senior titles and 20(2.70%)were other.(2)The overall prevalence of sub-health status among 742 medical personnel in Lanzhou region was 71.43%,mainly manifested by poor mental status(77.76%);significantly more hair fall on the pillow in the morning(77.36%)and poor sleep quality(76.95%).Years of work,occupational protection ability,noise stimulation,light radiation,exposure to chemical substances,and the threat of complaints,verbal abuse or violence were independent influencing factors for the occurrence of sub-health states among medical personnel in Lanzhou(P < 0.05).(3)The top two incidences of work-related injuries among 742 medical personnel in Lanzhou were needle-stick injuries(32.35%)and oral ulcers(23.45%).The factors affecting the occurrence of needle-stick injuries among medical personnel in Lanzhou were position,working years,breaking ampules or using sharp instruments,and exposure to chemical substances(P < 0.05);the factors affecting the occurrence of oral ulcers among medical personnel in Lanzhou were job title,job satisfaction,and smelling odor(P < 0.05).(4)The top two prevalence rates of work-related diseases among the 742 medical personnel in Lanzhou were neurasthenia(29.11%)and lumbar or cervical spine disease(22.24%).The factors that influenced the occurrence of neurological disorders among medical personnel in Lanzhou included working years,light radiation,breaking ampules or using sharp instruments,physical work such as changing positions or carrying patients,poor posture such as bending or being forced to position,and being complained,abused or threatened with violence(P < 0.05);the factors that influenced the occurrence of lumbar or cervical spine disease among medical personnel in Lanzhou included age,poor posture such as bending or being forced to position,and exposure to chemical substances(P < 0.05).and exposure to chemical substances(P < 0.05).(5)The total incidence of workplace violence among 742 cases of medical staff in Lanzhou area was 38.41%.Among them,verbal violence was predominant with an incidence of 37.06%,while the incidence of physical violence and sexual harassment was 10.51% and3.23%,respectively.The violence occurred mainly in wards,consultation rooms and hall corridors,and was mainly perpetrated by patients and accompanying staff.Conclusions:(1)The highest incidence of occupational injuries among 742 cases of medical personnel in Lanzhou area was sub-health status,work-related injuries were dominated by needle-stick injuries and oral ulcers,work-related diseases were dominated by neurasthenia and lumbar or cervical spine disease,and the incidence of workplace violence was at the general level in China.(2)The factors affecting the occurrence of occupational injuries among medical personnel in Lanzhou include social demographic characteristics,hospital organization and management factors,occupational protection factors,personal factors and occupational exposure factors,among which occupational exposure factors are the main ones.
