| During the 14 th Five-Year Plan period,China will move from a lightly ageing society to a moderately ageing society.According to some data, there is a distance of nearly eight years between life expectancy per capita and healthy life expectancy per capita in China, and nearly 80% of the elderly suffer from one or more chronic diseases. The problem of ageing is becoming increasingly serious for the "health-vulnerable" group. The health of the elderly has attracted the attention of researchers and scholars, and has become one of the most important issues in the prevention and resolution of ageing in the country and society.Based on this background, this paper uses SPSS AMOS software to conduct structural equation and multiple chain mediated effects analyses based on the 2018 CLHLS data to investigate the impact of ’upward’ intergenerational support, attitudes towards self-ageing and social participation on older people’s health and the mechanisms of their impact.Through structural equation modelling and multiple chain mediation analysis, this study found that upward intergenerational support, positive attitudes towards ageing and social participation all have a significant positive effect on the health of older people, but in fact,in addition to the above effects, intergenerational support given by offspring to their parents has a direct negative effect on the self-ageing attitudes and social participation of older people, thus indirectly having a negative effect on the health of older people. The total positive effect of intergenerational support on the health of older people is smaller than the negative effect of the first two.Based on the above findings, this paper proposes measures and recommendations for the health of older people at the levels of intergenerational support,self-attitudes towards ageing and social participation. |
