Objective: Cold asthma is one of the most common syndrome of asthma. We compared the syndrome score,ACQ score, lung ventilation index, blood eosinophil and other indicators of two groups of patients before and after treatment to explore a more effective and safer traditional Chinese medicine treatment method for cold asthma,in order to benefit those with asthma. This was done by observing the clinical efficacy of Wenfei Jiangqi Decoction in conjunction with traditional western medicine in treating cold asthma in the stage of asthma attack.Enhance the quality of life of those afflicted with asthma. Methods:This experiment collected of the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, the Affiliated Hospital of Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from December 2021 to December 2022.The clinical observation objects were excluded and screened, and all met the diagnostic criteria of western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine. Finally, expected to include the Test group(n=30)and the control group(n=30)were divided into two groups by random number table method. The control group was treated with conventional western medicine, and the Test group was treated with Wenfei Jiangqi decoction on the basis of the control group. After a week, the indicators pertinent to treatment were compared between the two groups.(1)Laboratory indicators: eosinophil count,Ig E.(2)Pulmonary function:(FEV1%,PEF,etc.).(3)CM Syndrome score.(4)ACQ score. The safety of the two groups during the treatment was also observed. Results: 1.There was no drop-out in the two groups. For study and comparison,64 patients were included,31 in the Test group and 33 in the control. After testing and calculation,it was found that there were no statistically significant differences in age, gender,CM syndrome score,ACQ score, inflammatory index and lung function between the Test group and the control group before intervention(all P > 0.05).2.CM symptom scores: the scores of the two groups were decreased, and the improvement of the Test group was more obvious when the intervention was given to wheezing, cough, chest tightness, sputum in the throat, and nasal congestion(all P < 0.05).The Test group also had a more significant improvement in the total score(P < 0.05).3.Asthma control level: both the Test group and the control group could reduce the ACQ score, and the Test group was more superior in improving the ACQ score(P < 0.05).4.Laboratory markers:No significant difference between the experimental and control groups was observed in terms of EOS count(P < 0.05),nor in Ig E(P > 0.05).Both groups showed no significant improvement in Ig E before or after treatment(all P > 0.05).5.Lung function: The Test group’s improvement of FEV1% and PEF was more evident than that of the control group(P < 0.05),as evidenced by all P <0.05 results.6.Clinical efficacy: 31 cases in the Test group,of which 3 cases were ineffective,14 cases were effective,12 cases were markedly effective,2 cases were clinical control, the total effective rate was 90.32%;There were 33 cases in the control group,of which 5 cases were ineffective,24 cases were effective,4 cases were markedly effective, and 0 case was clinical control. The total effective rate was84.85%.The Test group’s clinical efficacy was more conspicuous than that of the control group(P < 0.05).During the whole observation,a total of 5 patients had symptoms of diarrhea, including 3 cases in the Test group and 2 cases in the control group.1 in the Test group had symptoms of palpitations. They can disappear spontaneously without treatment. Conclusion: The efficacy of Wenfei Jiangqi Decoction in conjunction with traditional western medicine is far greater than the mere application of conventional western medicine to treat acute asthma(syndrome of cold wheezing). This combination can effectively alleviate the clinical symptoms, particularly in the amelioration of wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, phlegm in the throat, nasal congestion and runny nose. However, the effect was less pronounced at the level of inhibiting inflammatory indicators,Its specific pathway and mode of action remain to be investigated. |
