Objective:This study provides a theoretical basis for preventing the development of cognitive impairment in type 2 diabetes by investigating whether there is a correlation between type 2diabetes and the occurrence of cognitive impairment and the factors influencing the occurrence of cognitive impairment in patients with type 2 diabetes.Methods:1.Meta-analysis of the correlation between type 2 diabetes and cognitive impairment:literature on cognitive impairment in type 2 diabetes published in Chinese and English databases up to May 2022 was collected, and the collected literature was analyzed using Revman software as well as Stata software.2.Study of factors influencing the occurrence of cognitive impairment in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus:patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who received inpatient treatment in two tertiary hospitals in Changchun from July 2022 to November 2022 and voluntarily participated in this study were collected, respectively. The cognitive function of the patients was assessed by the Simple Mental State Checklist and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale, and those with cognitive impairment were included as the case group;those without cognitive impairment were included as the control group.Patient data were collected by questionnaires(general condition questio-nnaire,self-management questionnaire, etc.),and the factors influencing cognitive impairment in type 2 diabetes were studied using chi-square test, rank sum test, and binomial logistic regression analysis.Results:1.Meta-analysis of the association between type 2 diabetes and cognitive impairment:statistical analysis of the 22 included papers(9 in English and 13 in Chinese)revealed an OR/95%CI for type 2 diabetes causing cognitive impairment:1.51(1.32,1.73),and the OR/95%CI was obtained after removing one paper with large heterogeneity by excluding the literature one by one:1.41(1.27,1.56).2.Study of factors influencing the occurrence of cognitive impairment in type 2diabetic patients:229 patients with type 2 diabetes were included in this investigation, including 158 cases in the control group and 71 cases in the case group.A univariate analysis of the subjects’ general information, residential environment,self-management,and social support revealed that the control group and the case group were statistically different in age, income, sleep, mental activity,self-management,and social support(P<0.05);then a binomial logistic analysis was performed on the above statistically significant indicators, and the results showed that older age, poor sleep,self-management.The results showed that older age, poor sleep, poor self-management,and low social support were positively associated with the occurrence of cognitive impairment in type 2 diabetes, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);high income was negatively associated with the occurrence of cognitive impairment in type 2 diabetes, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);frequent mental activity was not statistically significant with the occurrence of cognitive impairment in type 2 diabetes(P>0.05).Conclusions:1.Type 2 diabetes is positively correlated with the development of cognitive impairment;people with type 2 diabetes are 1.4 times more likely to develop cognitive impairment than normal people.2.The factors influencing the development of cognitive impairment in patients with type 2 diabetes are:age, income, sleep status, type 2 diabetes self-management,and social support.Among them, older age, lower income, poor sleep, poor self-management,and lower social support are influencing factors for the development of cognitive impairment in patients with type 2 diabetes.
