Objectives By investigating the correlation between appendicular skeletal muscle mass index(ASMI)and Triglyceride / High density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio(TG/HDL-C)in community-dewlling older adults,so as to assess the decreasing trend of ASMI by a simple and easily available lipid index, which is important for predicting possible sarcopenia in the elderly. Methods A total of 199 elderly subjects(age ≥65 years old)who underwent human body composition analysis in the physical examination center of Hebei General Hospital from July 1,2019 to July 31,2021 and met the inclusion criteria were collected,of which 7cases with incomplete clinical data were deleted.Finally,192 subjects were included in this study, and the data effective rate was 96.48%.Collect and record the baseline data of the subjects, including gender, age, height, weight, systolic blood pressure(SBP),diastolic blood pressure(DBP),waist circumference.Measure the triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),High density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),serum creatinine(Scr)levels in the fasting blood of the subjects.According to the body composition analyzer of the subjects on the day of physical examination, appendicular skeletal muscle(ASM)is divided by the square of the height to calculate the ASMI.The ASMI is divided into three groups according to the trisection method: low group(n = 64)is less than 8.41,middle group(n = 64)is 8.41 to 9.16,and high group(n = 64)is more than9.16.The intergroup differences between the baseline data, biochemical indicators and body composition of the three groups of subjects were analyzed, and the correlation between ASMI and variables was investigated by Spearman correlation analysis, and finally the influencing factors of ASMI were analyzed by Logistic regression.Result 1 After counting the data of the three groups of subjects, the comparison revealed that the differences between the three groups in terms of gender,SBP,DBP,body mass index(BMI),TG/HDL-C,waist circumference, visceral fat area(VFA),body fat mass(BFM),basal metabolic volume, muscle mass,waist-to-hip ratio(WHR),fat free mass,ALT,TG,and HDL-C were statistically significant between groups(P<0.05).The high ASMI group had higher SBP,DBP,BMI,waist circumference,VFA,BFM,basal metabolic volume, muscle mass,WHR,defatted body weight,TG,TG/HDL-C and AST and lower HDL-C compared with the low quartile group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).2 After Spearman correlation analysis of ASMI,the results showed that the ASMI of the elderly was positively correlated with men,SBP,DBP,BMI,waist circumference,VFA,BFM,basic metabolic volume,WHR,fat free mass,TG,TG/HDL-C and ALT,but negatively correlated with HDL-C.3 Multifactorial Logistic regression analysis showed that gender(OR=0.130,95%CI: 0.027-0.635,P=0.012),TG/HDL-C(OR=0.575,95%CI: 0.332-0.996,P=0.048),muscle mass(OR=0.609,95%CI:0.485-0.766,P<0.001)and basal metabolism volume(OR=1.011,95%CI: 1.001-1.021,P=0.031)were independent influencing factors of ASMI,among which high TG/HDL-C,male and high muscle mass were protective factors of ASMI,while high basal metabolism volume were risk factors of ASMI.Conclusion 1 Among the elderly in the community, the greater the values of TG and TG/HDL-C,the higher the ASMI.2 TG/HDL-C,sex,muscle mass and basal metabolism volume may be the independent influences on ASMI in community-dwelling older adults.Figure 0;Table 3;Reference 153...
