Background:Depression is a kind of mental disorder with high disability rate and fatality rate. The emotion dysregulation caused by depression can lead to self-injury,suicide and other adverse consequences.Interventions of emotion regulation for patients with depression can improve their ability of regulating emotions and reduce the occurrence of dangerous behaviors such as self-injury.Dialectical behavior therapy, which originated from the United States,is a psychotherapy based on mindfulness and centered on emotion regulation. It has been proved to reduce self-injury behaviors of patients with borderline personality disorder, but its application in Chinese patients with depression needs further investigation. Objectives:Aiming to clarify the effect of emotion regulation group skill training based on dialectical behavior therapy on depressive symptoms, using of emotion regulation strategies and self-injury behavior in patients with depression. Methods:In this study, patients with depression who were hospitalized from April 2022 to February 2023 in a third-class A psychiatric hospital in Beijing were divided into intervention group and control group with 35 cases in each group. Both groups received routine nursing and psychological counseling, and participated in ward recreational activities. The intervention group received 8 group skills training of emotion regulation based on dialectical behavior therapy for 4 weeks. Before intervention,4 weeks after intervention and 3 months after intervention, the self-rating Depression Scale, the Chinese version of Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire and the self-injury questionnaire were used to measure the degree of depression, the use of emotion regulation strategies and the situation of self-injury for the patients. Results:A total of 65 patients in the two groups completed the study, and there was no significant difference in baseline data between the two groups(P>0.05).The degree of depression, using of emotion regulation strategies and self-injury were compared and analyzed at the follow-up 4 weeks after the intervention and 3 months after intervention.(1)Degree of depression:4 weeks and 3 months after the intervention, there was significant difference in the degree of depression between the intervention group and the control group(P<0.05).The score of depression in the intervention group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).(2)Using of emotion regulation strategies:during the follow-up 4 weeks after intervention and 3 months after intervention, there were significant differences in the scores of positive dimension and negative dimension between the intervention group and the control group(P<0.05).The trend of total score of positive and negative dimensions in the intervention group was more obvious than that in the control group(P<0.05).(3)Situation of self-injury:during the follow-up 4 weeks and 3 months after intervention, there was significant difference in the incidence of self-injury behavior between the intervention group and the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of physical injury, the total score of self-injury behavior and the number of self-injury between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:Emotion regulation group skill training based on dialectical behavior therapy can effectively improve the depressive symptoms of patients with depression, increase the use of positive cognitive emotion regulation strategies, and reduce the use of negative cognitive emotion regulation strategies.and make the patients with less number of selfinjury and mild degree of self-injury reduce the self-injury behavior or stop the self-injury behavior.
