| Objective In this study, patients with perimenopausal central obesity were set as the observation object.Compared with lifestyle interventions. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the therapeutic effect of acupuncture on perimenopausal symptoms and central obesity, and provide certain clinical evidence for the study on the treatment of central obesity in perimenopausal period. Methods Perimenopausal central obesity patients were randomly divided into two groups, the acupuncture group and the control group. The treatment of the control group was lifestyle interventions for 8 weeks. The patients of acupuncture group,on the basis of lifestyle interventions, were treated by ordinary acupuncture combined with electro-acupuncture,using sparse wave,2Hz of frequency. After getting Qi,the needle was retained about 20 minutes.Patients in the acupuncture group received treatment every other day, three times a week for 8weeks,a total of 24 treatments.Every patient’s symptoms of Menopause-specific Quality of Life Questionnaire(MENQOL)were recorded in our research,as well as weight, waist circumference,waist-to-height ratio(WHt R),body mass index(BMI)before their treatment and the 2th,4th,6th and 8th week respectively after their treatment. Before and after treatment,Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry(DEXA)was used to check the abdominal fat mass in patients.Result After 8 weeks of treatment(or observation),6 cases falling off,1 case being excluded, and 53 cases were completed, including 28 cases in the acupuncture group and 25 in the control group.1.Body weight and BMI: The acupuncture group: Compared with 0 week, the weight and BMI of 2,4,6,8 weeks were decreased,p<0.05 or p<0.01,the difference was statistically significant;Compared with 2th and 4th week, the weight and BMI were further decreased in 6th and 8th week,p<0.01,the difference was statistically significant.Control group:Compared with 0 week, there was no significant difference in weight and BMI between 2th,4th,6th and 8th weeks,p>0.05.There was no statistical difference between the two groups in body weight and BMI,p>0.05.2.Waist circumference(WC)and WHt R: Acupuncture group: Compared with 0 week,WC and WHt R were decreased in 4th,6th and 8th weeks, and the differences were statistically significant,p<0.05 or p< 0.01;compared with 2th week, the WC and WHt R of acupuncture group in 4th,6th and 8th were decreased,p<0.05 or p<0.01,the difference was statistically significant;compared with 4th week, the WC of acupuncture group in 6th and 8th week was still decreased,p<0.05 or p<0.01,and the difference was statistically significant;compared with 6th week, the WC of the acupuncture group decreased further,p<0.01,the difference was statistically significant.Control group: there was a slight increase in WC and WHt R before and after observation, but the difference was not statistically significant,p>0.05.Two groups of WHt R in 4th,6th,and 8th weeks had difference,p<0.05 or p<0.01,and there was a statistical difference between the groups at 8 weeks of waist circumference,p<0.05.3.Body fat composition: Acupuncture group: there was a decrease in fat content in the waist before and after treatment,p<0.05,being a statistical difference.Control group: there was a decrease in fat content in the waist and abdomen before and after observation,p>0.05,the difference was not statistically significant. The two groups were compared before and after treatment,p>0.05,and there was not statistical difference.4.MENQOL: Acupuncture group: Before and after treatment,MENQOL scores declined overall,p<0.01,and the difference was statistically significant. After 2 weeks of treatment, the scores began to decrease(p<0.05).As the time of treatment increased, the MENQOL score gradually decreased, and the differences were statistically significant(p<0.05 or p<0.01).Control group: the MENQOL score was basically stable before and after observation, showing a slight upward trend, and the difference was not statistically significant,p>0.MENQOL scores increased at the rate of 2th,4th week and 8th week,p<0.05 or p<0.01,and the difference was statistically significant. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in 0 week MENQOL score,p>0.05;2th,4th,6th,8th week, with the increase of treatment time, the survival quality of patients in the acupuncture group gradually increased, and the MENQOL score significantly decreased,p<0.01,the difference between the two groups was statistically significant.5.The total effective rate of central obesity in the acupuncture group was 79%,while the rate of the control group was 20%.The total effective rate of perimenopause quality of life in the acupuncture group was 89%,while the control group was 4%.The difference of efficacy between two groups was statistically significant(p<0.01).Conclusion Acupuncture therapy can lose weight of the perimenopausal obese patients, reduce the waist and reduce the abdominal fat.Acupuncture therapy can effectively improve the clinical symptoms of perimenopausal women, improve the life quality of perimenopausal period, and help women to get through the period of menopause smoothly. |
