| Strawberry(Fragaria × ananassa)is an important crop cultivated worldwide,to produce strawberry in a green and environmentally friendly way is hampered by anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum spp.Cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase(CAD)catalyzes lignin biosynthesis to fortify plant cell wall upon various stresses. In this study,we compared the resistance of forest strawberry and cultivated strawberry to anthrax after whole plants were inoculated with anthrax solution.Next, based on the recently improved genomic databases,we updated the CAD gene family of cultivated strawberry, with the aim to reveal the association between forest strawberry CAD genes and cultivated strawberry CAD homologous alleles in terms of genetic information.Finally,RT-PCR analysis and RNAseq data were used to analyze the role of CAD gene in the interaction between Colletotrichum.Fructicola and strawberry.Through the study,we have drawn the following conclusions.CAD family in cultivated strawberry comprises 32 genes belonging to three classes. There were 13 collinearity relationships between cultivated and woodland strawberry.High homology in protein coding regions was observed for Fve CAD and its Fxa CAD homoalleles, but the cis-elements in their promoters were greatly diversified.Inoculation assay showed ’Hawaii4’ the least susceptible, followed by Shen Qi’,and ’Benihoppe’ the most susceptible.F.vesca is less susceptible to Colletotrichum spp.than cultivated strawberries. The expression of above 50% CAD family members was significantly changed after Colletotrichum spp.infection.The expression of CAD family in F.vesca and F.× ananassa were differentially provoked in timing and magnitude hinting no correlation with strawberry resistance to this pathogen. |
