As one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization,the southern region of Inner Mongolia contains rich cultural relics from the early and middle periods of the Neolithic Age.The natural environment,economic type,lifestyle,and values of this region are all unique.The utilization of plant resources played a significant role in human activities during this period and is an indispensable archaeological material for revealing the behavior of ancient people,such as their subsistence mode.This article focuses on the plant remains unearthed from three sites of the Yumin culture in the central and southern regions of Inner Mongolia,and analyzes the behavior of the ancient people,climate and environmental changes through the animal remains and production tools.Based on these analyses,this article summarizes and concludes the subsistence mode of the ancient people during this period,providing a starting point for exploring the Yumin culture and the origin of dry farming agriculture in northern China. |
