The Yellow River south bank irrigation area of Inner Mongolia is located in Hangjin County and Dalate County, Ordos City. In recent years, industrial construction projects develop and water consumption increase rapidly in Erdos City. To solve the contradictions of growing water shortages and industrial water, water-saving transformation of agricultural irrigation project on the south bank of the Yellow River will be done. This article is part of the contents of the agricultural irrigation water-saving renovation project, which was done during August2005to August2008. This article is focuse on the groundwater table dynamics, designed to accurately understand changes of groundwater on the south bank irrigation area of the Yellow River during the year, especially testing groundwater level variation. The main results are as follows:1) Groundwater level changes of irrigation area is little. Groundwater flow direction is consistent with the Yellow River flows to the overall. Groundwater, the average depth of the overall trend is the upper reaches of deep and shallow downstream, generally1-3m.2) Groundwater level of irrigation district decreased significantly during the test observation. Groundwater storage capacity is overall decreasing in trend, but groundwater dynamic inter-annual changes obviously during the test observation, indicating that more complex factors affect irrigation area groundwater. Canal leakage (not lining) and field return is one of the main factors during irrigation period.3. Annual total water-saving is10.88×106m3for channels in demonstration area of the Yellow River south bank of Inner Mongolia.
