| As an important cereal crop,millet has a large planting area in Baicheng City,Jilin Province,and has become an important source of income for local farmers.However,there are still significant differences in variety quality,yield,and quality in production.Therefore,it is of great significance to develop local millet planting industry and future breeding directions to screen high-yield and high-quality varieties suitable for production and application in the western region of Jilin Province and enrich local variety resources.In this experiment,20 millet varieties from different ecological regions were used as test materials for comparative screening.Through investigation and measurement of their growth,quality,and yield indicators,statistical analysis of the agronomic traits,dry matter accumulation and transportation,and yield of millet was conducted using variance analysis,correlation analysis,and principal component analysis.The results are as follows:(1)"Longgu 38","Huangjin Miao",and "Nenxuan 15" have a growth period of less than or equal to 110 days and belong to early-maturing varieties;"Zhangzag 16","Gonggu 88","Jigu 22",and "Yugu 35" have a growth period of more than 120 days and belong to late-maturing varieties;other varieties have a growth period of more than 110 days but less than 120 days.(2)"Longgu 13","Huangjin Miao","Shanxi Honggu",and "Datong 29" have a plant height greater than 150 cm and belong to tall-stem varieties,while "Gonggu 88" have a plant height less than 110 cm and belong to short-stem varieties.The plant height of other varieties is between 110 cm and 150 cm.(3)The stem of "Yugu 35" is the thickest at 1.60 cm,and the stem of "Longgu 38" is the thinnest at 0.87 cm.The differences between the other varieties are not significant.The longest ear is "Nenxuan 15" at 28.47 cm,and the shortest ear is "Jiugu 23" at 18.13 cm,except for "Nenxuan 18",which is significantly higher than other varieties.The average ear thickness of all varieties is 2.99 cm,with "Nenxuan 18" having the thickest ear at 3.45 cm and "Huangjin Miao" having the thinnest ear at 2.45 cm.(4)The crude protein content of millet ranges from 7.5% to 17.5%.The millet variety with the highest crude protein content among the tested materials in this experiment is "Longgu 13" at 13.25%,while the millet variety with the lowest crude protein content is "Chiyou Jinmiao 1" at 9.23%.The variety with the highest crude fat content is "Longgu 13" at 5.29%,while the variety with the lowest crude fat content is "Chao Gu 58" at 3.36%.(5)Based on the comprehensive results of 2 years,there are 8 varieties that showed increased yields compared to the control variety "Gonggu 88," ranked by yield from high to low: "Nenxuan 18," "Zhonggu 9," "Jigu168," "Yugu 35," "Jigu 22," "Jinmiao K2," "Longgu 13," and "Longgu 38."(6)The varieties with good resistance performance are "Nenxuan 18","Yugu 35","Jigu 22","Jigu 168","Zhonggu 9","Jinmiao K2","Longgu 13" and "Longgu 38",while they have poor lodging resistance.(7)Through comprehensive evaluation of the main characteristics of 20 varieties of millet,“ Jigu 22 ”because of the low quality traits,resulting in the reduction of the overall score,"Yugu 35","Zhonggu 9","Nenxuan 18" and "Jigu 168" scored higher than the control in both years.Considering the overall evaluation of yield,lodging resistance and disease resistance,these varieties are suitable for promotion and cultivation in the western Jilin area. |
