Jiangxi Yishan Provincial Nature Reserve(hereinafter referred to as Yishan Reserve)is located at the junction of Jiangxi and Hubei provinces,at the northernmost end of the Luoxiao Mountains and in the hinterland of the Mufu Mountains,in the transition zone between the flora of East China and Central China, where a variety of geographic components are clustered. The analysis of the seed flora of the Yishan Provincial Nature Reserve aims to clarify the characteristics of the seed flora of the region,as well as the links and evolutionary relationships between the flora of the region and that of neighbouring areas, and is of great significance for the conservation, development and sustainable use of wild plants. Therefore, through a field survey of the seed plants of the Yishan Nature Reserve and the collation of literature,a list of seed plants of the reserve was compiled. On this basis, the zonal composition, endemism, rarity and endangerment of the wild seed plant families, genera and species were analysed, and the links with the flora of the surrounding areas were studied. The following conclusions were drawn:(1)The plant species diversity is rich. There are 155 families,675 genera and 1554 species of seed plants(including subspecific taxonomic units, hereinafter the same)in Jiangxi Yishan Nature Reserve. There are 146 families,644 genera and 1497 species of seed plants belonging to the wild,of which gymnosperms contain 3 families,9 genera and 12 species, and angiosperms have 143 families,635 genera and 1485 species.(2)The geographical composition is complex. The distribution types of families in the reserve can be divided into 10 types and 8 variants;the distribution types of genera can be divided into 14 distribution types and 15 variants, with only the Mediterranean region and the distribution type from West Asia to Central Asia missing.(3)Rich in endemic plants. There are 15 endemic Chinese genera and 586 endemic Chinese species, including 33 endemic to Eastern China and two to Jiangxi.(4)Clearly transitional. The seed flora of the Yishan Reserve is characterised by a transition from the eastern to the central Chinese flora and from the central to the northern tropics, and is influenced by the southern Chinese flora, where a variety of flora components intersect, making it an important ecological corridor in the East Asian flora.(5)The ancient origin of the flora. The Yishan Nature Reserve is a refuge for many ancient relict plants and preserves a large number of original plant taxa. The gymnosperms include Torreya grandis,Taxus wallichiana var.mairei, and Cephalotaxus fortunei, etc. In angiosperms, there are Schisandraceae in the base group. In Magnoliids,Saururaceae,Piperaceae and Magnoliaceae are all relatively primitive groups. There are also many monophyletic genera with relatively isolated systematic positions.(6)Rare and endangered plants are abundant. The reserve contains 81 species of rare and endangered plants, including 25 species of wild plants of national importance,30 species of plants listed in Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora(CITES),56 species of plants listed in the Red List of Biodiversity in China and 61 species of plants listed in the IUCN Red List of Species.(7)Comparison with the flora of other regions shows that the Isan Reserve has high species similarity and phylogenetic similarity with the Guanshan Reserve and the Jiuliangshan Reserve. The similarity with Huangshan in Anhui and Tianmu Mountain in Zhejiang is greater than that with Qiyunshan Reserve and Jiulianshan Reserve, indicating that Yishan Reserve has a high degree of similarity with the flora of eastern China and has some affinity with the flora of southern China.
