Alfalfa(Medicago Sativa L.)is known as the"King of Forage"because it has many advantages such as wide adaptability,high yield,high crude protein content,high nutrient content and excellent feeding quality,so it plays a great role in the ecological construction of global animal husbandry and agricultural industrial structure The performance of the same alfalfa variety in different areas may be quite different.Blind introduction will lead to problems such as inability to overwinter,low yield,poor quality and low resistance to diseases and insect pests.These problems will bring many economic losses to farmers and enterprises.Therefore,in order to determine the varieties suitable for planting in a certain area,it o is necessary to carry out strict research on the adaptability of varieties and fully consider the differences caused by factors such as water and fertilizer conditions,climatic conditions and cultivation management in the planting area.In order to screen out excellent alfalfa varieties suitable for planting in sandy grass beach area of Yuyang,this study took 30 alfalfa varieties at home and abroad as research objects,adopted random block design,investigated their overwintering rate and comprehensively evaluated their growth period,production performance and nutrition indexes,and screened out the most suitable alfalfa varieties introduced and planted in sandy area of Yuyang The test results are as follows:(1)All alfalfa varieties can complete the fertility period locally.From the perspective of the growth period,the earliest varieties to produce seedlings are Zhongmu No.1 and Grassland No.3 Longmu 803.The later varieties are WL319,Monopoly,4020MF and Longmu 806;the earliest branches are WL343,Giant Energy 201 and Zhongmu No.1,and the later varieties are Thunder and Zhonglan No.2;the earliest varieties to enter the bud stage are WL343 and Womu No.1,and the later varieties are Thunder and Zhonglan 2;the earliest varieties to enter the early flowering period are polar bear and WL343,and the latest variety is SR4030;The earliest species to return to the green is Giant Energy 201,and the latest to return to the green is Monopoly;all participating alfalfa varieties can winter safely in the local area.The varieties with the highest wintering rate are Baimu 341 and Challenger,and the lowest wintering rate is Bara218TR.(2)Among the hay yield of the 30 alfalfa varieties,the average yield of 10 varieties was more than 10,000kg/hm~2.Moreover,with the continuation of the growth life,the plant height of all varieties shows an upward trend.The varieties with long fertility period,high plants and high yield include Bara310SC,Knight 2,Zhongmu No.2,4020MF,Dongmu No.2,Baimu 341,etc..(3)After sampling the first fresh grass of all the participating alfalfa varieties,the nutritional composition was tested.The crude protein(CP)content of each participating variety was significantly different(p<0.05),and there were 5 experimental varieties with crude protein>19.0%,namely Grassland No.3(21.4%),SR4030(19.9%),Giant Energy201(19.7%)and WL298(19.5%).(4)According to the correlation analysis of 7 indicators of different varieties of alfalfa,there is a very significant positive correlation between plant height and CP(p<0.01),and there is a significant correlation with ADF,dry matter and other traits(p<0.05).CP and RFV are key indicators reflecting the nutritional quality of alfalfa.RFV has a very significant negative correlation with NDF and ADF(p<0.01)and a very significant positive correlation with dry matter(p<0.01).(5)According to the grey relational grade,the best alfalfa varieties were Bara310SC>Fortress>BR4010>Womu 1>Gannong 9>Prairie 3>Baimu 341>Challenger>Foreground>Juneng 201>Zhongmu 2>4020MF>Monopoly>SR4030>Knight 2>Knight T>WL298>Longmu 803>WL343>Thunder>Bara218TR>WL319>Longmu806>Gongnong 5>Zhonglan 2>SK3010>Gongnong 1>Dongmu 2>Zhongmu 1>Polar BearThe experiment showed that the five alfalfa varieties,Bara310SC,Fortress,BR4010,Womu No.1,Gannong No.9,Grassland No.3,had outstanding comprehensive performance and were suitable for introduction and planting in Yuyang sandy area.
