Xanthoceras sorbifolium Bunge is an endemic landscape and oil plant with a wide range of applications in China. The economic and landscape value of Xanthoceras sorbifolium Bunge is currently being explored in conjunction with research on its live seedlings. In this experiment, five different species of Corolla were planted at two different sites. The seeds of 1-year-old seedlings of Corolla were collected in 2021 from five sources: Kailu County,Aruqorqin Banner,Inner Mongolia(source 1),Baxian Cylinder,Tongliao City(source 2),Kulun,Nayman Banner(source 3),Wengniut Banner,Chifeng City(source 4)and Taonan,Baicheng City,Jilin Province(source 5).The seeds were sown and germinated in experimental plots in Siping and Nong’an after pretreatment. The main findings of the study are as follows.(1)Analysis of germination rates and young shoot phenotypic traits of seeds from different seed sources showed that the germination rates of different seed sources ranged from 15% to30% within 28 days, the average root lengths after 28 days of germination ranged from 14.843 mm to 24.795 mm,and the average basal diameter ranged from 1.750 mm to 3.946 mm.On day28,the highest germination rate was for source 1,the largest average root length was for source4 and the largest average basal diameter was for source 2.(2)The mean value of seedling height and ground diameter was 43.618 cm and 4.755 mm in the Nong’an trial, while the mean value of seedling height and ground diameter was 44.304 cm and 5.574 mm in the Siping trial. In terms of the remaining phenotypic traits,it was found that the No.1 and No.3 seeds in the Nong’an trial and No.4 seeds in the Siping trial performed relatively well, while the No.5 seeds in the Nong’an trial and No.5 seeds in the Siping trial both performed poorly. In terms of biomass, seeds 1 and 2 in the Nong’an trial and seeds 2 and 4 in the Siping trial performed relatively well, while seeds 4 in the Nong’an trial performed relatively poorly.(3)The analysis and comparison of mineral elements and soluble sugars showed that the highest soluble sugar content in the Nong’an trial site was 35.19% for source 1,but the difference in overall soluble sugar content was not significant. The soluble sugar content of the No.1 and No.5 seeds in the Siping trial site was relatively high,at 44.32% for No.1 and44.50% for No.5,while the soluble sugar content of the other seeds was significantly lower. It can also be found that some of the elements varied in a certain pattern, with some elements being higher, and overall it seems that the variation in the mineral element content parts of the five seed sources is similar.(4)The results of the correlation analysis between the seven indicators of seedling biomass and the six morphological indicators in the two experimental sites showed a high degree of positive correlation between the indicators, and only some of the biomass indicators could be measured to infer and calculate the details of the other parts of the biomass from the existing data. The correlations between the seedlings in the Siping trial site were more significant than those in the Nong’an trial site, making them suitable for further observation and study. The study showed that,as the same high correlations were found between the annual live seedlings and the two-year old seedlings,it was determined that it was feasible to investigate the differences in seedling growth traits between some of the different annual seedlings in order to identify good seedlings suitable for local planting in the future.
