Kindergartens have been an important infrastructure to nurture children for a long time.The important indoor activity space in the environment,is the main place for children to play and communicate.Providing a high-quality kindergarten space is the main prerequisite for children’s overall development,learning skill and growth.Most of the current kindergarten activity spaces in China are still dominated by the traditional functional,and the educational space model is relatively dull,lacking personalized design,not fully meeting children’s needs and expectations,and not fully considering the main influencing factors of environmental on the release of children’s nature.At present,most of the research perspectives in the field of kindergarten activity space design focus on space layout,environmental planning and safety assurance,and there are limited studies on concept renewal,space utilization and personalized playful design.In this context,we take the context-related theories as the starting point,combine the characteristics of children’s development and psychology theories,explore the contextual and needs in children’s activity spaces,and use to guide practice.The purpose of this paper is to study the playfulness of kindergarten indoor activity space design,and to evaluate and analyze the design principles and improvement strategies of indoor activity space step by step through literature analysis,field observation and interview survey using contextual theory as the theoretical framework.Firstly,analyze how to integrate fun elements in the design to improve children’s interest and initiative.Secondly,the theoretical principles and practical strategies for the interesting design of kindergarten indoor activity space under the context theory are proposed,and summarized in terms of functional layout,color,material,graphics and light and shadow,respectively,to provide basis and guidance for the design work.Finally,the validity and feasibility of the principles and strategies of playful design of kindergarten indoor activity space based on contextual theory are verified,and the design scheme is evaluated and improved.The significance of this study is that it enriches the research content of context theory and application area,creates a new way to combine design and education,provides theoretical perspective and diversified design strategies for the design of kindergarten indoor activity space,highlights the importance of spatial playful expression,can better meet children’s needs and expectations,and improves the quality of kindergarten education.
