The intelligent substation built on top of the IEC61850 standard is the link between the smart grid and users,playing an important role in distributing electricity.Compared with traditional substations,intelligent substations adopt intelligent electronic device(IED)and networked secondary devices,which make their devices more integrated and operate more efficiently.However,the application of Ethernet will also make intelligent substations face the challenge of network attacks,especially the threat to transmitted data and control information.This article focuses on the security issues of data transmission in smart substations,analyzes and studies the availability of Elliptic Curve Cryptography(ECC)algorithm in smart substations.The elliptic curve encryption algorithm is a public key encryption system that combines high security and lightweight characteristics.Based on this characteristic and the real-time and security requirements of different packets during transmission in intelligent substations,this paper designs a scheme based on ECC encryption algorithm to encrypt the data transmission process to solve the network security problems caused by network applications.This article first studies the security protection measures and threats faced by intelligent substations.The communication network is transformed into an OSI model,and the three major functions of key exchange,public key encryption and decryption,and digital signature are integrated into the application layer of data transmission,which is implemented through underlying module operations.However,considering the limited computing capacity of most devices in intelligent substations,the traditional ECC encryption algorithm is difficult to implement in these devices,so it is improved.By introducing intermediate variables and the method of pre calculating the exponential power base point coordinates of 2,the operation speed of scalar multiplication is accelerated.During the key generation stage,these quantities are calculated and stored,and subsequently distributed to each node to reduce the computational pressure on each node,resulting in a calculation speed increase of about 40%.Then,the improved ECC encryption algorithm was applied to the detailed design of the data transmission scheme in the intelligent substation,explaining the encryption,decryption,and digital signature processes of the data.At the same time,a key management center was added in the station control layer for key generation,key negotiation,key update,and so on.Finally,this article takes the 110 kV Daqiao substation as the background to test the data transmission delay of its relay protection device,and tests the computational time of the encryption scheme proposed in this article.By comparing the time consumption of the two,the feasibility of the encryption scheme designed in this article is verified.
