The Diamond Sand Warehouse, also known as the Emery Warehouse and Bond Processing Room,is located in the Zhengzhou ERSHA Industrial Park and is one of the well preserved heritage buildings in the park.ERSHA Industrial Park, also known as ERSHA Cultural and Creative Park,is located in the southwest of Zhengzhou City.It was originally China’s Second Grinding Wheel Factory, abbreviated as "ERSHA Factory".It was built in 1953 with the assistance of the then Democratic Germany(East Germany)and is the largest grinding wheel factory in China. It has the largest Bauhaus building complex in Asia and is one of the "Four Historical and Cultural Zones" construction projects in Zhengzhou. It is also one of the key industrial projects of the New China’s "First Five Year Plan".After the reform and opening up,due to the adjustment of urban industrial structure, factories ceased production and, after years of legacy and shelving, became abandoned industrial parks.ERSHA Factory covers an area of 56 square meters and has rich industrial and cultural heritage resources.Although abandoned for many years,it also has a certain research value. In order to awaken and explore the heritage value and historical imprints of the ERSHA Industrial Park, this article takes the industrial building of the emery warehouse in the park as the research object.Based on the design concept of protection and reuse, and relying on the theory of old city renovation, through on-site research and data review, the current situation and renovation strategies of the internal and external environment of the building are organized and summarized for the purpose of protecting and reusing the emery warehouse,Analyze the characteristics of architectural space and the possibility of renovation, and summarize corresponding development and protection methods.Add new content that meets modern needs on the basis of the original spatial structure,in order to cater to modern cultural, creative, and commercial services. The emery warehouse is a symbolic epitome of the ERSHA Industrial Park during the period of large-scale industrial production in the last century. It has special significance for the development of the industrial park and the urban area it is located in.It is necessary to protect and reuse it to explore its cultural and historical value and humanistic spirit, and combine modern business needs to explore the transformation of building usage attributes and the reproduction of usage value.
