Research On The Reading Space Design Strategy Of Urban Public Library Based On The Reader Behavior Mode

With the rapid development of urbanization and economy,the construction of China’s public cultural service system is constantly strengthening.As an important component of the cultural system,the construction of urban public libraries is becoming increasingly important at present.As the main space used by readers,the design and research of reading space is the focus of attention in library construction.Currently,the design of reading space in urban public libraries is mostly based on the subjective perspective of designers,emphasizing scale over function,and emphasizing experience over basis,resulting in a single type of space that lacks diversity and pertinence,a lack of diversity and regularity in spatial organization,a monotonous and tedious spatial form,which violates the logic of use,and cannot meet the spiritual and cultural needs of readers in the new era.The essence of architectural space is to serve people.As the main users of the reading space in urban public libraries,readers’ use and evaluation are the criteria for measuring the design quality of the reading space.This article regards reader behavior patterns as a new perspective in the study of reading space design,summarizes and summarizes the characteristics and laws of reader behavior using behavioral science,and explores the correlation between behavior patterns and spatial design,that is,to provide guidance for spatial design strategies from the perspective of human use,making the design more scientific while also ensuring that the space is closer to the needs of readers,Improving the efficiency and value of the use of reading space,as well as providing new reference and inspiration for the design and research of reading space,is also the purpose and significance of this article.Firstly,the article expounds the concepts and classifications of urban public libraries,reading space,and behavior patterns,and defines the research scope of reading space;This paper probes into the development overview and current functional positioning of urban public libraries,analyzes on the regional composition of reading space and the development characteristics of reading space under the current functional positioning;The theory related to the research of behavioral space design is clarified,and the research direction of behavioral patterns is analyzed.Secondly,based on the above basic research,field research was conducted on the reading space of urban public libraries and the behavior patterns of readers in the space.Through direct observation and behavior map methods,the behavior types,distribution of behavior types,behavior type flow lines,and behavior flow lines of different types of readers in the space were recorded;We also investigated the behavioral habits and psychological needs of different types of readers through questionnaires.Based on the quantitative analysis of the survey data,the characteristics of the reader’s behavior pattern are summarized as follows: the type of behavior has a primary and secondary relationship,there are differences in behavior characteristics,and there are transitions and collocations between behaviors;Based on this,the relevance of spatial function,spatial environment,spatial openness,and spatial complexity was explored.Thirdly,based on the research on the relationship between behavior patterns and spatial relevance,combined with excellent architectural cases at home and abroad,the design strategies are summarized.Corresponding reading space design strategies are mainly divided into the following four aspects: building reasonable spatial structure strategies based on behavior types;Spatial composite design strategy based on behavioral collocation;Open space design strategy based on behavior transformation;The design strategy of spatial environment based on behavioral psychology.Finally,through field research on the reading space of the Shaanxi Provincial Library High Tech Library,a practical project,the shortcomings of the current reading space were summarized.The design strategy based on the summary of reader behavior patterns was used to optimize and transform the reading space,and theoretical research was applied to practical design.
