Based On The Spirit Of The Place In The City Of Xi’an Ming Sajinqiao Road Street Space Construction Strategy

The streets in cities carry the daily activities of residents and are important public spaces.As the ancient capital of the Thirteen Dynasties,Xi’an has numerous streets formed based on historical and cultural heritage.Especially as a famous historical and cultural city,the Mingcheng District of Xi’an is rich in historical relics and cultural resources.The Beiyuanmen Historical and Cultural District,located in the northwest corner of the Bell Tower in the Mingcheng District,is a highly valuable protected block in the Mingcheng District.As a secondary historical street,Sajin Bridge is located in the construction control zone of the North Gate Historical and Cultural District.In recent years,with the development of cities,some streets have shown signs of weakening their characteristics and vitality.The original historical culture and unique spatial atmosphere of the streets have gradually declined.Although several elements of historical value have been retained in the current situation of Sajin Bridge,the retained elements are weakly related to the surrounding areas,and the fragmentation historical relics cannot unify the characteristics of the street place,which is difficult to highlight the overall cultural context of the street place.Due to the long-standing construction of Sajinqiao Street,complex land ownership,diverse street functions,rich historical and cultural information,established current functions,and limited renovation space,it is difficult to advance the renovation work of the street.As a result,multiple lost spaces have emerged in the street,and the spirit of street places has gradually weakened.To address the above issues,this article takes Sajinqiao Street as the research object from the perspective of place spirit.Research will be conducted from several aspects,including the theory of street space and place spirit,the current situation of Sajinqiao street space,the analysis of relevant issues in Sajinqiao street,and the design strategy of Sajinqiao street space.Firstly,the paper comprehensively studies the theory of place spirit and street space,and concludes that street space has the significance of place spirit.It also summarizes the relevant elements of place spirit in street space,providing theoretical support for subsequent research.Secondly,the author conducted research on the overview of the historical and cultural districts in Mingcheng District and Beiyuanmen in Xi’an,as well as the historical,cultural,and spatial status of Sajinqiao,and identified the current situation of Sajinqiao Street.Based on the questions,a spiritual evaluation system for the spatial location of Sajinqiao Street was constructed,and spatial related insights were obtained through a survey questionnaire.Finally,this article proposes targeted strategies for updating the material spatial elements of streets,a diversified "cultural+" strategy for cultural heritage,and an intervention strategy for urban governance from three dimensions.The purpose of this study is to address the issue of improving the quality of all elements of street space that have a significant impact on the formation of place spirit through the inheritance of historical context and the formation of place spirit,ultimately enabling the continuation of place spirit in street space.We hope that through cultural inheritance strategies,street culture with high historical value can be inherited and continued.Through urban governance strategies,we can intervene in street renewal and improve the quality of street space,cultivate spaces suitable for the formation of place spirit,enhance the attractiveness of street space,provide places for residents to carry out daily activities,and enhance residents’ sense of identity and belonging to the environment.The strategy adopted in this article has strong feasibility and can provide ideas for the improvement and renovation of other similar old city streets with historical value.
