With the development of global economy and science and technology, compared with traditional car driving systems, autonomous driving technology can not only reduce the difficulty of driving, but also improve the efficiency of traffic, and better guarantee the safety of road travel.Due to its commercial potential, autonomous driving technology has become an important direction of the intelligent transformation of the automobile industry structure.Due to the high complexity and uncertainty of the research and development of autonomous driving technology, transnational technology cooperation has become a strategic choice for all countries to achieve technological breakthroughs and lead them.As a cutting-edge technology category, autonomous driving technology is of great significance to its transnational technology cooperation, whether for the innovation and development of autonomous driving technology itself,or to improve the innovation level of autonomous driving technology,or to promote the adjustment of the layout of relevant global industries.Based on this, this paper tries to explore the structural characteristics and driving factors of the transnational technology cooperation network of autonomous driving.Using the social network analysis method and QAP secondary assignment program model, this paper uses the 55,220 autonomous driving patents to discuss the structural characteristics and influencing factors of the global autonomous driving transnational technology cooperation network in 2006-2020.The results show that the number of countries participating in autonomous driving technology cooperation is growing rapidly from the embryonic period of technology development(in 2006-2012)to the growth period of technology development(in 2013-2020),but the overall cooperation network is not complete and standardized. The United States is the hub and hub of the transnational technology cooperation network of autonomous driving. The traditional science and technology powers led by the United States and Germany occupy an absolute central position in the network, and the network presents an obvious core-edge structure. The results of block model show that the cooperation mode of autonomous driving technology is centered on core countries and dominated by core countries and strong semimarginal countries. The QAP regression results show that technology proximity, social proximity, economic distance and technology diversity gap are the main driving forces for the evolution of autonomous driving transnational technology cooperation network, which significantly affects the evolution of transnational technology cooperation relationship. The role of geographic distance and colonization links in autonomous driving technology cooperation becomes non-significant over time. The regression results were consistent with the robustness test results, and the conclusions were credible. Finally, based on the relevant empirical test results, the corresponding policy suggestions are put forward: Countries should participate in autonomous driving technology research and development cooperation with a more open attitude;Pay attention to one’s own network location and develop differentiated cross-border technology cooperation strategies for autonomous driving;Countries should grasp the influencing factors of technological cooperation networks and optimize the mechanism for cross-border technological cooperation in autonomous driving;Facing the cycle of technology cooperation network and improving the efficiency of cross-border technology cooperation in autonomous driving;Attach great importance to the design and implementation of relevant regulations and policies, increase the policy support of the transnational technical cooperation of autonomous driving, such as exerting the macro-guiding role of the government, policies to encourage transnational cooperation of key technologies, policy guarantee infrastructure and human resources training.
