Conservation And Planning Design Of Industrial Heritage Along The Canal Under The Model Of Heritage Corridor

The unique and profound cultural heritage of the Pearl River has made it one of the best preserved and most representative ancient river and canal systems in South China.The industrial heritage along the Guangzhou section of the Pearl River documents the development of the city’s industrialization and the history and culture of Guangzhou’s trade and commerce,and plays a key role in shaping the city’s local culture.However,the relative lack of management mechanisms for the protection of industrial heritage limits the development of industrial heritage renewal and reuse in the city.The development of industrial heritage along the Guangzhou section of the Pearl River is also in a relatively fragmented state.Therefore,there is an urgent need for a different methodology and practical strategy for heritage management and industrial heritage transformation along the Guangzhou section of the Pearl River.This study examines the industrial heritage along the Guangzhou section of the Pearl River and integrates the characteristics of the spatial distribution of industrial heritage to propose the concept of building an industrial heritage corridor along the Guangzhou section of the Pearl River.The basic idea is to use the Guangzhou Pearl River section as an important cultural heritage resource and integrate a complex system of various functions and forms of industrial heritage and natural environment along the Guangzhou Pearl River section,so as to create an integrated system for an industrial heritage corridor along the Guangzhou Pearl River section.First,strategies and implementation methods for the construction of canal corridors are collected based on domestic and foreign literature and case studies,and the corridors are analyzed and studied in terms of their concept,typology,components,special features and heritage value.Then,a comprehensive collection and analysis of the historical development,typological classification and current status of industrial heritage conservation along the Guangzhou section of the Pearl River is carried out.Secondly,ArcGIS 10.3 geospatial data analysis was used to analyze three aspects of the spatial distribution,cluster characteristics and linear characteristics of industrial monuments along the Guangzhou Pearl River,based on which the monument protection areas and levels of the Guangzhou Pearl River corridor were defined.Finally,based on the above study,the planning of the canal corridor of the Guangzhou section of the Pearl River is carried out.By preserving and connecting various industrial heritage resources of the canal,dividing the heritage corridor into different sections and improving the internal structure of the corridor,the multi-use canal heritage corridor along the industrial history of the Pearl River section in Guangzhou will be activated,an urban green corridor and a slow walking system will be established,preserving the historical heritage of the corridor.In addition,Taicocan Waterfront,a key area,has been selected for detailed planning to create a revitalized waterfront and ecological green corridor,and continue the canal style of the millennium trading capital to create a water corridor with a green waterfront and ecological vitality integrated with the industrial heritage.
