Zen cultural landscape is a kind of aesthetic tendency and atmosphere expression derived from Zen culture. It can not only make people feel calm and comfortable from the senses, but also make the mind get pure as nature; In the current Zen cultural landscape design, blind imitation of Japanese style, homogeneity of entity and form, lack of cultural heritage and other issues have become increasingly prominent. The paper hopes to go back to the origin of Zen culture and the art of placing stones in gardens, and focus on the key entity element of stone landscape to deeply explore,in order to build a design strategy that can better meet the needs of modern life.By combing the historical context of Zen culture and the cultural changes of placing stones in gardens,as well as case studies around several important figures, this paper conducts basic research on the landscape and stone landscape under the influence of Zen culture. This paper selects the landscape with Zen culture as the theme and the landscape cases with Zen artistic conception, conducts basic research and field research, carries out information statistics and abstract processing on the content of stone landscape design, and conducts user surveys and data analysis combined with different forms of questionnaires, from which a large number of first-hand materials and cognitive experiences are obtained.Based on the above research results, and drawing on Amos Lappot’s "cultural decomposition" theory, aiming at the too general and abstract characteristics of Zen culture,on the one hand,it is classified according to regional characteristics, historical culture, positioning and activities,on the other hand,it takes the spiritual dimension and behavioral dimension of tourists with different cultural backgrounds as recognizable ways,In addition, combined with the special values of role models and cultural imprints,a basic theoretical model is constructed. On the basis of theoretical model and practical experience,a relatively complete design strategy of Zen cultural landscape and stone landscape is discussed and presented through the following three different dimensions: first, preliminary positioning is carried out by means of time-space positioning, model reference and cultural conception;Second, the inheritance of regional characteristics and historical culture from the perspective of construction,as well as the overall layout, spatial composition and creation of multi-functional stone landscape elements of practical activities in line with the concept;Third, from the perspective of perception,we should carry out precise design according to the needs of tourists from different backgrounds, including building a highly recognized spiritual culture for a large number of Zen practitioners, creating a more relaxed and sustainable culture for a small number of Zen practitioners, and combining diversified means to do a good job of cultural and scientific popularization for those without Zen concept. The main achievements can be further summarized into seven specific measures, which are to refer to the role models and timelines, combine the project positioning and conception of Zen culture, inherit the regional characteristics and historical culture, match the practical activities of Zen culture construction, build a highly recognized spiritual culture, create a sustainable state of cultural renewal, and combine diversified Zen culture and popular science. Finally, combined with the internship opportunities and special research experience of Wuxi Nianhua Bay Scenic Area,it not only analyzed, summarized and evaluated the existing overall planning, space type, single design and other aspects, but also selected typical areas for landscape reconstruction design based on the study of Zen culture, which also achieved the preliminary verification and practical exploration of the feasibility of relevant theoretical models and design strategies.
