Due to COVID-19 pandemic,the global aviation market has lost $200 billion in the past three years.Airlines will experience tougher homogeneous competition in the future therefore declining profitability.Because of high cost,domestic low-cost airlines in China are specially in worse situations.The Chinese aviation market share taken by domestic low-cost airlines is only one-third of the international industry average.Post pandemic,global air transport market is gradually warming up and tourism becomes a highlight of mass consumption trends.Passengers crave for comprehensive transport services that cover the entire journey.Providing additional value-added services can gain market shares for airlines.Because of different spending habits,revenue derived from value-added services for domestic airlines remains far below international peers.Researchers predict that revenue generated from providing additional services will account for 30%-50% of the total revenue for most global airlines in the future.With intensive research and study,this article intends to promote additional value-added services for F Airline.Documentary analysis and comparative analysis methods are used to identify the current industrial development stage and tendency both within and outside China,pinpoint the bottle-necks for domestic low-cost airline operations.By conducting questionnaire survey and comparing empirical evidence,this article studies the current additional value-added services for customers provided by F Airline and presents strategies for improvement.The development of additional value-added services in F Airline is still in its infant stage.It will be a revolutionary change in its business model,should F airlines adopt the strategies.In order to maintain its economic growth,F Airline has to improve strategies for additional value-added service from perspectives of customers,data and ecosystem.There is not sufficient domestic and international research data and information in the field of providing additional value-added services by air transportation companies.This article contributes to theoretical and academic research on the topic.Using F Airlines as a study example is not only practically significant for the company itself,but also provides a feasible ground for other domestic low-cost airlines.F Airline is the only regional low-cost airline in A city,China.Focusing on passenger demand,data-driven mind-set and taking the industrial ecosystem into account,the development plans for providing additional value-added services by low-cost airlines has been proposed.The changes may bring inspiration and innovation on building industrial ecosystem,reforming low-cost airline operation and designing additional value-added customer services,therefore promote integrated cooperation among different businesses for a mutually beneficial and sustainable social development. |
