Research On The Renewal Of Hungyang’s Old Urban Area Under The Collage City Theory

China’s urbanization process is gradually accelerating,and significant progress has been made in urban construction.However,at the same time,cities have expanded blindly,lacking awareness of the natural environment,historical culture,and urban context.All these have caused various urban diseases: The quality of the city has declined,traditional neighborhoods have been destroyed,and the urban context has been disrupted.The old urban area has rich traditional culture and carries people’s spiritual memory,so the protection of the old urban area should be gradually put on the agenda.In 1978,Colin Rowe introduced collage city theory into urban design.Instead of large-scale and radical urban renewal and development models,collage city theory attempts to achieve the construction method of an ideal city through purely rational planning,but instead uses collage techniques and collage thinking in urban design.In design,extract the unique urban layout,block space,landscape environment,and urban context of the old city of Huaiyang can not only meet its own requirements,but also be consistent with the overall city.Firstly,the thesis studies the relevant research and overview of the old city renewal and collage city theory.This article introduces the practice of collage city theory in urban renewal,and analyzes the transformation of Boston,Ruzhou Middle Street,and Suzhou ancient cities from the perspective of collage city theory,sorting out ideas and methods that can be used for reference.Secondly,the thesis takes the Huaiyang old urban area in Zhoukou,eastern Henan Province,as the specific research object,and collects and analyzes data on the historical evolution,urban morphology evolution,and cultural continuity of the Huaiyang old urban area.At the same time,conduct field research on the style and characteristics of the old city of Huaiyang,excavate the texture of streets and alleys with regional characteristics,cultural landscapes,architectural forms,etc.,so as to extract the collage symbols of the spatial texture within the old city of Huaiyang.Using questionnaire survey as one of the research methods,this study aims to obtain the tendency and willingness of citizens in old urban areas to urban renewal and find out the crux of the development of old urban areas.Summarize the current situation and problems in the old urban area,and provide a foothold and focus for the proposed collage strategy in the old urban area of Huaiyang.Finally,the thesis analyzes the renewal of old urban areas from three levels:macro,meso,and micro,and proposes the theories,methods,and strategies to be followed for the renewal of old urban areas in Huaiyang under the collage city theory.From the three dimensions of "collage" integration of urban pattern and texture morphology,"collage" continuation of block spatial morphology,and "collage" construction of buildings,this thesis analyzes the root causes and internal correlation mechanisms of urban renewal from the perspective of collage cities,and carries out collage design for representative nodes of the old urban area of Huaiyang.Based on the proposed collage strategies and methods for the old city of Huaiyang,the thesis hopes to seek a concept that can adapt to more ancient city renewal,and provide practical solutions and designs for the urban renewal of other old cities.
