Represented by Lingering Garden, gardens on the Yangtze Delta are known for their exquisite landscape creation and complex spatial arrangements, creating a spatial experience of "myriad of landscapes in a limited garden space." Therefore, during the visit, visitors often face multiple landscapes and multiple directional choices. Many studies have proposed concepts such as landscape guidance, viewing points, and viewing routes to analyze the relationship between the landscape and space in classical gardens, but it remains challenging to objectively describe them. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the design features of landscapeoriented multi-directional spatial nodes using Lingering Garden as an example.Based on field research in Lingering Garden and relevant literature, this research analyzes the multi-directionality in the central area of Lingering Garden and the network formed by spatial nodes, and discusses the multi-directional spatial nodes. The research further combines the relationship between multi-directional spatial nodes and landscape content, and derives a hierarchical and cyclic structure of spatial layers in Lingering Garden.Taking into human perception characteristics,in multi-directional spatial nodes, the deviation of landscape information in different directions drives visitors to explore further, and the spatial form blurs the psychological scale range of visitors. Therefore, visitors gain a clearer impression of the spatial relationship after experiencing different directional choices. This research mainly achieves data organization, network analysis, and three-dimensional restoration of selected spaces in Lingering Garden, providing an objective summary of the landscape-oriented characteristics of multi-directional spatial nodes. The research also explores the relationship between multi-directional spatial nodes in Lingering Garden and the development of spatial relationships in modern architecture, concluding that varying degrees of spatial overlap can control the generation of multi-directional spatial nodes, thereby addressing multi-directional spatial issues.By adopting the perspective of multi-directional spatial nodes, this research effectively and objectively investigates the connection between garden space and landscape, and combines the characteristics of modern spatial design to propose new approaches to spatial treatment in architecture and landscape. |
