Innovation-driven strategy is the new engine of economic and social transformation and upgrading in the 14 th Five-Year Plan. For all kinds of economy or other organizations, employees’ innovation performance plays an important role in it,and it is particularly important to explore the influencing factors of employees’ innovation performance. At present, enterprises are the main body driven by economic and social innovation. In order to better carry out transformation and upgrading, enterprises should not only pursue economic benefits as in the past, but also spend certain costs to improve their innovation ability.Administrative units or institutions other than enterprises should also consider improving their own innovation ability in the new stage,so as to promote the implementation of the overall national strategy. No matter what kind of units carry out innovation activities, the most basic subject is employees, and the general improvement of employees’ innovation performance can promote the overall innovation ability. It is worth mentioning that the existing research on employee’s innovation performance is no longer limited to the explicit innovation achievements of researchers, but also reflected in the innovation of non-technical ordinary employees or managers. The main body of this paper is also carried out under this scenario. In addition, some studies have begun to explore the innovation performance from the non-intelligence factors of employees, among which the emotional intelligence factor reflecting the individual’s emotional evaluation and application has been verified to some extent, which indeed provides some theoretical basis and reference significance for this paper, but the research on whether this influencing factor is universal, influencing effectiveness and mechanism of action is still scarce, and the research in this paper will give some explanations to these problems. In addition to emotional intelligence, this study reviewed more related literatures, and based on positive emotional expansion-construction theory and social cognition theory, introduced psychological capital and work involvement as intermediary variables, built a chain intermediary model with emotional intelligence as independent variable and innovation performance as dependent variable, and added job level, education level, unit attribute and so on as control variables to analyze the effect degree of different groups.Through theoretical analysis, questionnaire survey, statistical analysis and other research methods,a detailed empirical analysis was made on 513 valid samples collected from various angles, and finally the following conclusions were drawn:(1)Employees’ emotional intelligence has a general positive influence on employees’ innovation performance, and the degree of influence varies according to different groups.(2)Employees’ psychological capital and job involvement both play a part of the mediating role in the influence of emotional intelligence on psychological capital, and the degree of mediating role of them also varies with different groups.(3)Employees’ psychological capital and job involvement play a significant chain intermediary role in the influence of emotional intelligence on innovation performance. The results have certain reference significance for the discipline enlightenment of organizational behavior and human resource management, enrich and expand the theoretical research related to emotional intelligence and innovation performance, and provide some thoughts for mmanagers to carry out innovation management and employees to implement innovation practice.
