Manufacturing is the foundation of the real economy and a powerful country.With the development of digitalization and intellectualization of manufacturing in China,intelligent manufacturing has become an inevitable development trend of manufacturing industry,and is also the key to develop China into a manufacturing power.The rapid development of intelligent manufacturing has led to the transformation of the mode of production,which has had an impact on employment.In this context,it is necessary to measure intelligent manufacturing and study the impact of intelligent manufacturing on employment.This paper selects indicators from the four dimensions of personnel,technology,resources and manufacturing,constructs an indicator system for the development level of intelligent manufacturing,and uses the ant colony algorithm projection pursuit model to comprehensively evaluate the development level of intelligent manufacturing in China’s provinces.The development trend of intelligent manufacturing is described,and the differences in the development level of intelligent manufacturing are analyzed from the provincial and regional levels.On the basis of analyzing the theoretical mechanism of the impact of intelligent manufacturing on employment,this paper analyzes the linear impact of intelligent manufacturing on employment,and analyzes the heterogeneity of the impact from the time and regional levels.In order to explore whether regional characteristics will affect the relationship between intelligent manufacturing and employment,the interactive items of intelligent manufacturing and regional characteristics are added to the model to build a regulatory effect model.Further build a panel threshold regression model to analyze whether there is a threshold effect for regional characteristics,and explore whether there is a structural mutation point for regional characteristics,so as to change the impact of intelligent manufacturing on employment.The development level of intelligent manufacturing in China is generally on the rise,with the largest increase in the resource dimension,which plays an important role in the development of intelligent manufacturing.The provinces with better development of intelligent manufacturing are Beijing,Shanghai and Guangdong,while Xinjiang,Gansu and Yunnan are relatively weak.Regional differences in technology and resource dimensions are important factors that lead to the development level of intelligent manufacturing in eastern China being much higher than that in central and western China.Intelligent manufacturing has a significant negative impact on employment.The improvement of the development level of intelligent manufacturing will reduce the number of manufacturing employment.The impact of the development of intelligent manufacturing on employment has temporal heterogeneity and regional heterogeneity.Capital deepening,human capital investment and urbanization level have significant negative regulatory effects,while the degree of opening up and industrial structure upgrading have significant positive regulatory effects.Constrained by the degree of capital deepening,the level of urbanization and the upgrading of industrial structure,the impact of intelligent manufacturing on employment presents threshold effects to varying degrees.However,the cost of living and the structure of human capital have no threshold effect.Therefore,based on long-term development and macro pattern,we should actively respond to the impact of intelligent manufacturing on employment.According to the differences in regional characteristics,differentiated employment promotion and social security policies should be formulated to enable all regions to achieve a win-win situation in terms of the development of emerging industries and employment growth.Possible innovations of this paper:(1)Build an indicator system of intelligent manufacturing development level from four dimensions,and use the ant colony algorithm projection pursuit model to calculate the development level of intelligent manufacturing in each province.(2)The nonlinear impact of intelligent manufacturing on employment is analyzed by using the regulation effect model and the panel threshold regression model.
