As one of the important ways to alleviate the shortage of water resources and the pollution of water environment, recycled water can improve the ecological environment, thus realizing the virtuous cycle of water resources. However, there are still great disputes about the promotion of the recycled water uses plan, and public exclusion has seriously hindered the construction and operation of the recycled water uses project. Therefore,it is urgent to carry out targeted research on the public’s stereotype of recycled water uses. While under the influence of pro-environmental social norms, the traditional subjective reporting method can only obtain the public’s explicit attitude towards recycled water uses.It is difficult to accurately obtain the public’s true attitude towards recycled water uses. Therefore, this study uses event-related potential technology to explore the public’s true stereotype of recycled water uses from the perspective of micro-individual,with a view to providing suggestions for the improvement of public acceptance of recycled water uses. The research first summarizes the Stereotype Threat Theory,Supply Theory,Demand Theory, and sorts out many factors that affect the stereotype of the public about the recycled water. And the study collected the neurophysiological response data of the public(the average amplitude of 350ms-450 ms of N400 component)through event-related potential technology to explore the impact mechanism related to the negative stereotype of the public on the uses of recycled water. In addition, this study carried out two questionnaires respectively in the preparation stage of the stimulus materials before the experiment and after the completion of the experiment. In view of the relationship between the relevant variables and the stereotype of the public on the uses of recycled water, the study combined the EEG data with the questionnaire data through paired sample t-test,one-way ANOVA and simple effect analysis, and then carried out specific analysis. The conclusions are as follows:(1)The public still has negative stereotypes about the recycled water uses.(2)There is no significant difference between the price of recycled water and the public’s negative stereotype of recycled water uses.(3)There are significant differences in the stereotype of the experimental participants with different knowledge levels on the recycled water uses, and the experimental participants with higher knowledge levels have more positive stereotype on the recycled water uses.(4)Although the level of knowledge has little impact on the stereotype of low human contact recycled water use,for high human contact recycled water uses, the level of knowledge will significantly affect the stereotype of the public on the supply and demand sides, and has a greater impact on the stereotype of the supply side.(5)Gender will not affect the public’s explicit stereotype of recycled water uses, nor will it affect the public’s overall implicit stereotype of recycled water uses.
