Research On The Design Of Toilet Auxiliary Facilities Based On The Behavior Characteristics Of The Elderly

China’s population has entered an aging social stage.It is estimated that by 2035,China’s aging rate will reach more than 20%,and a super-aging society is coming.Products for the aged face an enormous development opportunity and great market demand.However,in the actual practice of the society,there are few products for the elderly and the adaptability is poor to meet the needs of the existing elderly.It is particularly severe in assisting toilets products.When going to the toilet,the elderly have many problems such as difficulty in squatting,inconvenience in walking,and discomfort in using the toilet.Therefore,research on the topic of toilet auxiliary facilities is extremely necessary.In this paper,by taking the elderly as the research object,the toilet auxiliary facilities as the research carrier,and combing the current situation of toilets,characteristics of the elderly’s toilet behavior are studied.Understand the appetite and pain points of the elderly in the process of toileting,and draw the design idea of the toilet chair for the semi-self-care elderly,and finally apply the theoretical research to the design practice of the toilet chair.The main research contents are as follows:(1)Analysis of products assisting toilets for the elderly.Classify existing products,analyze products from four aspects:function,shape,color and material,and then summarize the shortcomings of the products to grasp the overall trend of product development.(2)Construction of research ideas and design methods.In this paper,research ideas of user behavior based on user experience and product design methods based on user behavior are proposed,which provide a theoretical support for the research of the thesis.(3)Acquisition and analysis of behavior characteristics of different elderly people going to toilets,including user interviews,behavioral observations in the context of toilets,and behavioral experiences under role-playing.The study of the behavior of the elderly in toilets was completed.(4)Acquisition of design requirements for toilet chairs.The user survey model and framework were constructed,and the online and offline questionnaires were used to obtain the functional and emotional needs of the semi-self-care elderly for the toilet chair.(5)The specific practice of the design of the toilet chair.In the design practice of the toilet chair,the design method is used to guide the research content,in order to complete the shape design,CMF design,feasibility screening and satisfaction screening of the product plan,and finally get the final plan,effectively verifying the feasibility of the design of the toilet chair.
