Public toilets are infrastructure closely related to human physiological needs and social dignity.With the development of rural construction and tourism,the traditional closed acquaintance system has been opened to the outside world,and the importance of the construction of rural public toilets has become increasingly prominent.With the implementation of China’s toilet improvement and the diversified development of the technical progress and design concept of public toilet support,exploring the system design method of rural public toilets resp onding to regional needs through the extension and value-added of basic excretion functions,innovating management and maintenance methods and generating multi-dimensional benefits provides a new idea for promoting rural construction at present.This paper aims to: 1)review the process.Based on the analysis and review of the evolution process of rural toilets in China,and combined with the analysis and study of the characteristics and attributes of public toilets and demonstration cases,the division,composition and basic principles of current rural public toilets were summarized.2)Expand the module.Through the research on the construction status and use needs of rural public toilets,the trend of spontaneous extension of public toilets was verified,and the problems and needs of rural public toilets were summarized.In response to the requirements of the problem,the modular design strategy is proposed,including the specific design method of basic module and epitaxial module.3)Practical demonstrati on.Through the practice projects and construction benefits of three types of rural public toilets of scenic spots,nodes and tourism,the paper demonstrates the design strategy and specific modular method of rural public toilets combined with "extension m odule".Chapter two is the theoretical framework of rural public toilets.Through sorting out the types of rural toilets,it is found that there is a close relationship between the appearance of rural toilets and the development of rural tourism.Combined with the background of rural tourism development and construction,the paper sorts out three stages of the evolution of public toilets and summarizes the two-level goals from health and safety to cultural and tourism facilities.Finally,the characteristic s of rural public toilets were analyzed by combing the details of technical specifications and comparing urban and rural tourism public toilets.Chapter three puts forward the division and composition of basic module and extension module of rural public toilets based on the theoretical framework.Combined with the research results of the current situation and the use demand,and the cognitive analysis of the rural demonstration cases,the author verified the trend of spontaneous extension of rural public to ilets,summarized the effect attributes of modular rural public toilets,and the basic design principles.The fourth chapter systematically summarizes the modular design method of rural public toilets.1)Determination of the type of rural public toilets.2)Basic module design of public toilets.3)The extension module design of public toilets,specifically explaining the design method of rural public toilets.Finally,the paper demonstrates the application of the design method of "extension module" of rural public toilets through the practical cases of three types of rural public toilets: scenic spots,nodes and tourism.
