Study On Ageing Adaptation Of Living Streets In Old City Of Changsha Based On Spatial Perception Evaluation

Abstract/Summary:
At present,in foreign urban built environment studies,more and more attention is being paid to ageing-friendly construction,while the ageing-friendly construction of most urban streets in China still remains in the aspect of barrier-free design,and still does not meet the usage needs of the daily travel environment of the elderly in the streets.However,living streets are an important carrier for the daily life and travel activities of the elderly,and their daily travels are inextricably linked to living streets.In the context of an ageing society,in order to meet the needs of the elderly in their daily travel environment and maximise the ageing-friendly design of street spaces,this study summarises and analyses the ageing problems of street spaces based on the perceptions of the elderly of living streets,and proposes influencing factors and optimisation strategies to improve the ageing-friendly living streets in order to improve the quality of the elderly’s travel environment.This paper takes the basic characteristics of the elderly and their needs for street use as the starting point,and selects typical streets in the old city of Changsha as the research scope for empirical research,using environmental behavioural methods such as site survey,questionnaire survey and behavioural observation,and taking three types of living streets of six different grades of main roads,secondary roads and side streets or alleys as the research objects.Firstly,based on the generalisation of the characteristics of elderly people’s travel environment needs,five major dimensions of spatial perception evaluation research were identified,namely safety,accessibility,comfort,ease of identification and participation.The SD analysis method was used to evaluate the spatial perception of ageing in street samples,and five groups of 20 pairs of related and easy-to-understand imagery words were selected as evaluation factors for evaluating the spatial perception of ageing in lifestyle streets,in order to obtain specific spatial perception descriptions of ageing in lifestyle streets by the elderly,so as to obtain the SD evaluation score table and evaluation curves of the street samples,and to analyse the evaluation results in terms of overall,individual and categorical comparisons.The results of the evaluation were analysed in terms of overall,individual and categorical comparisons to determine the "positive salient images" and "negative salient images" of the sample streets that affect the spatial perception of the elderly,and to summarise the existing ageing problems of the living street space in the old city of Changsha.The study showed that the higher the overall score of the SD evaluation of the sample streets,the stronger the perception of the living street space by the elderly and the more suitable for the elderly to travel,the higher the degree of ageing of the living street.Secondly,the correlation analysis using SPSS mathematical analysis software was used to study the correlation between the object indicators and the psychological quantity of spatial perception,and the specific influence range of the object indicators affecting spatial perception was obtained through regression analysis,so as to find a reasonable range for improving the object indicators of the ageing of living streets,and to provide quantitative reference for the optimization strategy of the ageing of living streets in the old city of Changsha.Based on the study of the object indicators affecting the perception of ageing spaces in living streets and the summary of ageing problems,targeted optimisation strategies are proposed for each of the five aspects of living street spaces.Through the study on the optimisation of ageing living street spaces in the old city of Changsha,the content,methodology and empirical evidence provide references for the future optimisation and renewal of ageing streets in Changsha and other cities in China.
