The Axial Flux Induction Motor(AFIM)is attracting more and more attention due to its high core material utilisation, good heat dissipation, high efficiency, high reliability, short axial dimensions and suitability for locations with restricted installation space. This paper focuses on the electromagnetic design, parameter calculation, characterisation, modelling simulation and optimisation of axial flux induction motors. The main research in this paper is as follows. The topology, operating principle, magnetic circuit characteristics, slot selection, winding selection and air gap selection of AFIM are introduced.A 0.5k W three-phase single-sided squirrel-cage axial flux induction motor is designed, and the electromagnetic calculation procedure of the motor is given. The electromagnetic parameters of the motor are obtained by combining the analytical method with the finite element method, which not only improves the calculation speed but also ensures the calculation accuracy;the steady-state characteristics of the motor are obtained by using the T-shaped equivalent circuit, and the transient characteristics of the motor are simulated by using the Simulink model, which to a certain extent solves the problems of modelling and solving the AFIM using the3 D finite element method. In order to improve the power factor, efficiency and electromagnetic torque of the motor, the stator slot width, stator notch width and rotor notch width were selected as variable parameters to find out the electromagnetic parameters of the motor, and the steady-state results of the motor were obtained through the T-shaped equivalent circuit, and the optimization results were obtained using Taguchi method and response surface method respectively to improve the performance of the motor. There are 57 figures,15 tables and 60 references in this paper. |
